What's the battery capacity setting for in the eVic firmware?

There's a setting in the eVic menu (Configure -> Battery, and then you can choose 2600 mAh, 3400 mAh or Customize). I *think* its sole purpose is to estimate the number of remaining puffs. At least that's what changes when I change the setting. Anybody knows if it's used for anything else?
