Thanks for looking

Just started rebuilding coils on my pro tank 2
Had a problem with all my wrapped coils comming out at sub ohms of .2 and .3 ohms which is to much for my mvp2

Finally wrapped a 2.1 coil with 30ga
wrapped around a 1/16 in drill bit with 9/8 wraps

Which gauge wire would be best with a 2ohm coil at about 5 to 6 wraps
My coils are tight wrapped and look good

Are you wrapping microcoils? If so, the 30 gauge should still make a pretty small coil at 9 wraps. Your drill bit size is perfect for a PT head, so I would stick with that. I assume it fits inside the slots, which makes it very easy to get the coil positioned correctly. 6 wraps of 32 gauge should get it around 2 ohms. Personally, I wrap 1/16" microcoils with 30 gauge at about 2 ohms for my PT heads, I believe it is about 10 wraps.

Also, I bet the times when you had .2-.3 ohms, the coil was shorted out on the walls of the head.

I was just wrapping coils or trying to lol
I did 5 coils and all went .2 or .3 they could have been shorting out

I will try the 1/16 at 10 and see what it does with 32ga

Mainly im just trying for logevity and better funtcion than the stock kanger coils i havent been having a lot of luck with them
At 7.5 and 8 watts they burn the wick with any juice i vape
And it has to be a better taste than what Im getting

It is ten wraps

Try out this coil calculator, it is very accurate at predicting ohms and number of wraps at different material, gauge and inner diameter

Silica wick cannot wick as fast as fluffy cotton.
The silica is a high density material compared to fluffy cotton which has alot of empty space and just sucks up liquid.
So higher wattages tend to dry out silica wick easier than cotton unless you atomizer head is so leaky it floods anyway.

ref shorts:

Note also that when you put on the top spire it puts metal on the inside of the space around the coil, so you don't want your coil too near that space.
