A phoenix RBA and plenty of supplies will run you $30 at an estimate ($20 for the pheonix, $10 for coil/wick.)
Getting a phoenix clone will save $10 with no noticable difference in quality according to reviews.

Other than that its a choice between a couple of good atomizers or a bunch of reasonably priced cartos.

That's right, and after that initial investment it only costs pennies to rebuild. A win win.

I say a phoenix rba. They are very cheap and easy to rebuild. There is a level of satisfaction in doing it yourself. I've never been good at anything for example sports or ninja methods. So the task of making a coil that works makes me feel good.

Come on man, surely you have some kind of skills. Girls only want to go out with guys that have some skills. You know, like nunchuk skills, ninja method skills, RBA retooling skills. You got to have some skillz!

Well, I'm married to a master electrician, and I can't get him to re-wire my RBA's. Anywho, I drip into a LR atty to test flavors. It just works for me, but I stay within a flavor family i.e. fruits, coffees, tobacco, etc., for each atty.

:) Ha good one Heres the only electrician joke I know
what do you tell an electrician with two black eyes?.......
Theres nothing left to tell him you've all ready told him twice!!!!!:D ...
