What's the best way to take care of my 510 batteries?

Is it best to leave a Joye 510 battery on the charger or to remove it when it shows it's fully charged? I use the usb ac wall charger and so far I just leave it there when it's charged and then swap it with my other one when it runs out. Then I got to wondering... is this a good or bad habit to be doing?

Also while I'm asking questions I have another.... Now thank goodness someone already told me not to risk my computer with smoking thru a passthrough from my computer so I won't try that but, can I use the Passthrough by plugging it into my usb/ac adapter and just plugging it into the wall to avoid using the batteries? Do you get a better hit that way with a more consistent power source?

For a PT you need a stronger USB to AC adapter than the ones that comes with batteries. I recommend a 2amp USB to AC. You may get by with 1amp. And for reference 1 amp is 1000mA. The average battery AC to USB provides only 500mA, the same as what a computer USB is specced to provide.

I usually leave 510 batteries on the charger. IMO number 1 way to make your batteries last is to buy manual batteries, not auto ones. 510 manuals are totally sealed metal on the threaded end so when a carto or atty leaks juice on the end of the battery you just clean it up.

Always make sure the threaded end of your battery is clean and dry before putting it on a charger or in a PCC. You don't want to be transferring a film of dried juice into your chargers.

Do not put any low resistance (LR) atomizers or cartomizers on slim 510 batteries. You can damage the batteries. And if you ever get a fat-battery 510-threaded model like Ego or Riva etc, don't try to charge your slim 510 batteries on the fat-battery's charger. That can damage slim batteries.

In the rain, I hold my ecig button down and try to keep a finger over its threaded connection as well as shield it with my head.

Just kidding lol. The charger thing is OK, as most have a chip that shuts off the charge current when the battery's "full".

Dang I think I just wasted some $ . I should have checked this thread first to see if there were any replies, I just ordered 2 PT thinking I could plug it into my usb/ac converter that came with the batteries for charging. So that won't really work eh? And I thought I was going to be able to save some battery life by using that plugged in to ac outlet when I watched tv..... Ok so where can I get a better converter for the USB to AC so I will be able to use these PTs I bought? Can I find one at walmart??

It shouldn't matter if you leave your batteries on the charger as they have a protection circuit to prevent over charging. That said - many tests I have done in the past show a lot of variations outside specs with inexpensive chinese batteries and chargers. So, I would take them off the charger when they are done charging because they don't like being pushed over 4.2v. But I also wouldn't lose any sleep over it if I left them on the charger.

Can you tell me what the watt value needs to be on that usb to ac adapter? Or does it make a difference? I would guess it would... I found some on amazon and noticed one said it was a 2amp 10w like this one... A 510 charger should have around 150-250mA output. If it has 400mA+ it is an Ego charger and will damage 510 batteries.

Re PT's
A PT with a real inline battery can use a PC's motherboard USB slot or a 5v 500mA USB to AC (i.e. standard USB)
A PT with NO inline battery (just a hollow battery looking handle) needs a 5v 2 Amp (2000mA) USB to AC
