I guess I'm the odd man here...I started with clearos, went to carto tanks, then to Novas, and now to Protanks and Evods. For simplicity, and ease of changing juice, the Protanks and Evods have been my favorite. 1 in 3 of my Novas would leak, and they waste juice because the wicks are full when you wash it or change flavors. Same can be said for carto tanks. For me, the new Kanger offerings have been amazing. These heads are cheap, easy to change, and brilliant.

Somewhere out there
I got a Kanger EVOD and I got to say I'm very unimpressed with it. I'm not sure if it's the e-liquid I have, or the Kanger EVOD itself, but it's just super harsh, even at 6mg nicotine levels. The 12mg stuff I have is practically unusable.

I have my eGo C-twist tuned to the lowest possible voltage (3.3v?) and the throat hit (not sure if I'm using the proper term?) is harsh. If I try taking a deep hit, it actually hurts my throat in a burning sort of way, not like hot cigarettes, but like there's acid burning on the back of my throat.

I ordered two different EVODs, and both of them perform the same. I've put them through "cleaning" cycles, which made the smoke taste "watery," but basically no difference in performance... pretty bummed right now considering I have two of those things (and 5 additional replacement heads)

What resistance (ohms) did you get? It sounds like it may be too low for the way you vape.

My personal preferrence is the carto/tank setup. Close second would be the Kanger ProTank followed by T3's. I hate the metal tip though.

I also started on clearos and would have to agree that most of them did not offer a steady performance (except the ones that were horrible all the time)

Trial and error. What I hate, many people love and vice versa

I started with clearos (ok, but not the best flavor, tend to leak lightly for me), then vivi novas (similar to clearos, usually less leaking, replaceable coil is nice) and Kanger t3s (gurgling, which leads to them spitting juice in my mouth, dislike) protank (OK, but a bit cool vape, light on flavor), now a carto tank (better flavor, but cartos don't seem to last as long as clearos or heads on VNs/Protank). But my favorite so far is a Smoktech drunker tank, which is a silica wick based rebuildable, sort of a step in between gennie type RBAs and clearos, I guess. I haven't learned to do the coil and wick yet, but you can buy replacement coils for about the same price as Vivi or Protank heads, though they are a little more involved to replace. But the flavor is far superior to everything else I've tried so far. Not sure I can really speak to how long the coils last, as I was using a very dark juice that seemed to burn out all coils very quickly and now I'm out of pre-made coils, so I have to wait until more come in, or maybe finally figure out how to build one myself (look out for a thread a may start sometime soon with questions).

Like many, I started with the CE4 clearos. Like many, I didn't really like them. I did direct dripping and loved the results, but did not like the constant filling. Back to clearos. Then I got a T3. BOING! Man was it better, until the constant flooding and burning juice was too much. Now I have 2 carto tanks, and love them! Easy to use, with no problems yet (other than user error). I have a $12 glass tank and a F-17 for my eGo's.

I started with the CE4 clearo and it was probably the easiest to use and the liquid lasted me the longest on these, except I wasn't always satisfied with the flavor. The vivi nova was recommended to me by so many but I didn't get the same experience others did. It always tasted burnt or had minimal flavor. Cleaning the wicks was also a pain. Then I tried the carto tank system and so far, its been great. More vapor and more flavor. I use it on both my ego twist and evic

I'm pretty much a dripper. I like the smoktech RDA "octopus." I've got the full size and the mini. The flavor is awesome. Maybe not as good as say, an HH.357. But the flavor is still better IMHO than clearo's or carto's. And since the builds I use in the octopus have 6-8 strands of silica, I'm able to get a good 15-20 minutes of fairly heavy vaping before I need to top off. Even in the mini version I can put ~10-12 drops in it. And it looks pretty sharp on my stainless ego when I'm out-and-about. Octopus with ssEgo.jpg

I'm a poor chick & new to the vape world (4mo in.) So far I've mainly used a CE4 clearomizer, or the equivalent in knock-off types... I've found with the knock off replaceable coil, they tend to leak around where the plastic meets the base (NOT the part where it unscrews.) I don't like the taste of the vivi vapor, and strongly prefer long wicks to short. But that's personal preference.
Obviously the best way to go is with the real brands...for me this isn't always an option, although I've had (negligible) issues with both.
As someone said above, keep what you stop using...you never know when something will crap out on you, and having a backup is a lifesaver.

I started with a Ego ce4 kit.
Quickly went to a T3 setup. Drank half a bottle of juice out of a leaky t3.
Changed to a carto tank setup.
Now on the mechanical / rba kick.

It really is personal preference. I like to swap around a lot and try as many different things if i can.
The real answer is you will prob have to swap around to and find what YOU like.

Initially, I loved vaping with an assortment of clearomizers. They filled the bill, as compared to the lack luster disposables and the kits.

My preferred way to vape is via RBAs and RDAs. However, that is reserved for home use. My day to day go to vaping method is via cartotanks.

Recently, I discovered the Diver from Atmistique, which is a rebuildable atty in a cartomizer platform. It is used in a tank, as one would with a traditional cartomizer. The Diver has been the only delivery device, which I have used for the past 3 days, as I am putting it to the test for future consideration.

Personally, the Diver may very well cease my need to purchase any disposable cartomizers in the future. At the moment, I'm 90% sure of that.

The Diver's performance is on par, if not, much better than a normal cartomizer. Due to its size, it is short of the same performance as a dripper, which I reserve for use at home. Imagine, depending on the size of the tank, using a dripper all day long without the need to re-fill. Now, that's what I'm talkin about.
