I have read that slotting ( a line cut by a dremel) may leave a bit of debris (depending on the method used) inside the cartomizer. If you do it properly, just barely cut into the metal and then use a dental pick to break through so that the debris doesn't get inside.
Punching seems to just break the casing. Although punching (round hole) can leave an indention which can cause what is called an air bubble to form around the hole and makes feeding a bit difficult. I believe taking a pull without activating the button will eliminate this air bubble. With the right tool you minimize the indention and will not have this problem.

The carto I received with my Liquinator was punched, not slotted- and I got it from Vaporessence. I got just over 3 weeks of heavy vaping from one carto, which was amazing. It finally got clogged and I had to replace it, now I've got some issues with flooding :-( No matter what I've tried it gurgles horribly. Trying to sort that out right now. Maybe the new carto is just a bad one. Cleaned out the old carto and it's drying out- going to see if that makes a difference.

Anyway, I had gotten quite a bit out of the one carto with the Liquinator, so the price of buying the pre-punched cartos seemed like a decent deal to me.
