What's the difference between these two batteries?

18350 batteries until recently were NOT safe to vape above about 4 amps (5 amps max rating). So you were pretty limited to 1 ohm or great loads.
A 10.5 amp battery I'd feel pretty safe taking to 8.5 amps, or a .5 ohm load, which would include the Kanger Subtanks .5 ohm kanthal OCC coils.

Previously the danger with these little 18350's, was taking a build used on a bigger, higher amp rated battery and putting it on an 18350 device. Big trouble. You need to learn a bunch about battery safety. I'd recommend reading Baditudes blogs here: (9) Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR? | E-Cigarette Forum

And then learning to use a good Ohm calculator like this one here: Ohm's law | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

I see you are new here. I don't know what your current setup is, but battery safety is THE Numero Uno thing you want to understand before you start venturing beyond pre-setup starter kits. The less ohms you are using, the more amps you are using. And batteries have a limit on how many amps they can output. If you go beyond that, you can vent them and depending on their chemistry, INR can burst into flames, IMR can heat pretty hot and vent explosive gases. You're putting these to your face, so learn or burn.

Thanks for your reply. I'm planning on getting a Stingray X clone. It says it's compatible with 18650 and 18350. I plan on getting one each. I usually use a variable vape that can handle sub ohms. But for the mech mod, I plan on making a double coil with an ohm around one, to be on the safe side(I'm not sure if my way of thinking is correct). Would you recommend the red or purple one for 18350?

I'd still recommend the purple. These are good for 3 years or so, and lots changes about tech, and your preferences, in that time. Might as well think ahead. You're already WAY to close to a safe margin @ 1ohm with the red one. You do understand that a dual coil setup that comes to one ohm, requires that EACH coil is 2 ohms, right?

I tend to stay away from Efest. AW IMR's are the only 18350 batteries I buy.

18350 Batteries

1. AW IMR 18350 800mah 12A (new) <= best in class
2. Purple Efest IMR 18350 700mAh 10.5A
3. Efest IMR 18350 800mah 6.4A
4. AW IMR 18350 700mah 6A

Where to Get Batteries

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

Efest IMR18350 10.5AMP Chemically Safe Li-ion 3.7V

Efest IMR18350 Chemically Safe Li-ion 3.7V 800mAh Flat or Nipple Topped Rechargeable Battery

I don't get how the one with higher mAh is cheaper. Also is the purple one rechargeable too?

I looked at the battery basics guide, and purple one was recommended. Red one wasn't. I don't get it.

Yeah 18350 never quite hit above 4A, 10.5 is probably the optimistic (very!) maximum pulse amperage, which stresses the battery crazy.

Usually high drain batteries will have lower capacity, think of it this way, it needs more working space at a time to give you that much amps. That eats up the space for capacity. And high capacity batteries would usually be pack tighter and has less reaction space, so less amp draw, releases current at a more stable manners.

Not sure if that'd make sense to you but that's my take on batteries.

Aye, get an AW / samsung / lg / panasonic ... Or from illumn or one of the other safe vendors mentioned, sony make some great ones too. There is a lot of variation in abilities but these name brand ones are maybe a dollar, 3 dollars or so more and it is worth it for peace of mind. You are still looking at 5 / 6 / 7 a battery for a known brand so be good to yourself there.
