A mech mod can come in any shape. Mech refers to the fact that the mod essentially has very little to no wiring and generally speaking your fire button when depressed will complete the circuit.
As to clones, certian countries ( China ) don't follow the same rules as everyone else. People keep buying so they keep producing. More or less anyway.

"Box" mod is just the shape or form factor of the mod (as opposed to a "tube" mod); it could be mechanical (no electronics) or regulated (electronic chip).

A mechanical mod is basically just a battery holder; no electronic chip to regulate the output from the battery, no variable wattage, and no protection circuitry. The atomizer is fired strictly by the battery voltage.

A regulated mod has an electronic chip to regulate the output, generally has variable wattage, and has protection circuitry. The atomizer is fired directly by the electronic chip, and indirectly by the battery.

A "clone" is a cheaper replication of an original model of mod.
