I know you said you are not a fan of the box types, but have a look at this one anyway Cob. This is the toughest combination of e-cig and tank I can think of.

Am I the only one who needed to be alone for a few minutes after seeing that thing for the first time ?? Dang.....know what's on my christmas list.

First of thanks for your service! Much appreciated. Here's a pic of my ProVari with two Pyrex tanks the smaller is nice but the bigger one last longer obviously, the are pretty tough really. Notice the O-Rings, keeps the unit from kinking and allows me to toss it around a bit. Also keeps the glad of the surface of what is sitting on. I'm very happy with the setup, flawless I do drop it, and it never leaks, you could take it apart and rhino line it if you want.

So I've been through two starter e cigs and then went to the mall and asked for rugged they sold me a k100 mod. Not so rugged but it's small and I like that, but I can't stand the thing. So please help me out vets.
I'm in the army so the thing is going to take some abuse. I want it to be able to use rebuildable tanks so that needs to be there. It's going to be in my pocket almost all the time, there's just no way around it with my lifestyle. I chain smoke with it too.
So I'm looking for guidance here all suggestions will be searched out. Please help me out and post whatever info and reviews you can offer.
I also like miniature sizes (cause it's going to be in my pocket all the time). Preferably streamlined in design.
So whatever battery and tank combo you guys throw out there would be awesome. Link would be even better.
Thanks for your help.

Seriously cannot stress enough how much a Titan and patriot combo will suit your needs if you're into mechs. I dropped mine 6 time in a day once and it's in phased. Thanks for serving
Oh and the patriot is a dripper, but you should consider it, for a tank a taifun with a stainless tank maybe
