What's the next step up from a Protank 2?

My Protank 2 is great when it's working. But I feel like I spend way to much time cleaning it out and dinking with the coil/s to get it to work. Today I started sucking juice out of the drip tip so I figure that particular coil is junk.

What's the next step up for something that works reliably without spending a ton of cash?

Shortly after getting a pair of PT II's I bought a pair of T3Ss as backups. If you don't mind dripping, try an IGO-I. Rebuilding them is easy and the vapor/taste is good too. It has a small juice reservoir and it's my 'go to' unit at home.

If your PT head is leaking/gurgling try a thicker wick, more flavor wick or turning up the voltage.

upgrading may get you a better quality vape that you can rely on for a much long time between re wicking or coiling. what upgrading WONT get you is a ready to vape garantee. i "upgraded" to a kayfun lite from a protank 2 and while it is easier to create a good vape every time you build, the prefect build is still as elusive as ever.
time spent fiddling with our atomisers seems to be the effort that sets us apart from the people who give up and go back to smoking. i know a few of them.

I was wondering this myself - I've been using and rebuilding protanks for a while. I would like something easier to rebuild and without a rubber grommet like the Kanger heads have. I like the convenience of a tank and I really want my device, whatever it is, to be leak-proof (or at least very close to it). This is why I've been thinking of getting a Russian 91% or Kayfun Lite. I haven't done it yet because they are hard to find and expensive but I'm keeping my eye out for one and will probably get one as they seem to be exactly what I'm looking for.

I have some RDA's and don't really like those for an all-day device because they are messy - can't really carry around in pocket. I have a couple genny's and it's the same thing with them - plus I never got the hang of using mesh. I really like my Cisco Spec atties and I just ordered an Vision Aurora BFT. That seems to have some promise but it seems like it will increase the length of my PV such that it's relegated to in-home or in-car use. Any of those could be a "step up", though - it just depends on what you're looking for.

rba's is the direction I took from a PT. I currently have the Aqua, Russian, Teminator-C, and Fogger. Finding the best build and wicking on each can be a bit fiddling in the beginning. But once set up I don't have to mess with them for a week or longer. The Aqua I re-wick, at most, once a week. I'll dry burn the coil after removing the wick, and then put fresh wick in. I'll change out the wick when it's not doing it's job properly or changing flavors. The Russian gets re-wicked every couple weeks or so. The Term-C has been on the same build for at least a month and hasn't been touched besides filling up the tank.

I vape more juice through the Aqua then my other rba's mainly because it has a sub ohm build and consumes juice like crazy when vaping at 34 watts. I use it for my ADV. The others I have different flavors in to change up my vape and only vape them at 15 watts. I use them all daily but the Aqua out vapes them all and is my work horse.

The main trick with rba's is to find a build that works great and stick with it and not to try a different build. When you get to that point, maintenance is minimal and only have to wrap a new coil every month or two. I usually do this while watching the internet, checking out the forums, and vaping. So it's not like I have to devote a time frame to build.

I build mostly micro coils, in one form or another, and use a SS mesh cotton core hybrid build on the term-C. Be forewarned though, one you head down the path of rba's there is no going back. lmao

Love my PTII. I picked up an IGO-W to just mess around with, but the best investment I made was picking up 2 more Pro tanks. Now I don't have to worry about flavor bleed over if I keep using similar flavors in a single tank. (for example, I'll use one tank for soda-ish flavors, another for thick chocolate-y stuff, et cetera) I still end up cleaning tanks and changing coils regularly, but not ten times a night anymore .. ha.
