I personally prefer using the fluval material that is used in aquarium tanks when restuffing carts. It's pretty cheap at the pet store fish supply and is easier to trim and insert. It also doesn't compact as quickly as regular polyfill. There are numerous threads here on restuffing using just about everything but IMO fluval works about as good as anything. I drip mostly so i only use carts when driving or flying but restuffing will let you reuse them a bit longer when the original stuffing gets too nasty to rinse any more or compacts too much.

There are lots of different materials you can use to stuff your carts. The most common seems to be blue foam, polyfil and PTB (Pyramid tea bags). Yes, they are actual tea bags. Lipton makes a line of tea that uses tea bags that are in a pyramid shape. Go out and buy a box, cut the seams off, empty out the tea and roll the tea bag up in the same sort of fashion as rolling a joint, bend it in half, cut off any excess, put it in your cartridge, then fillerup!

There are some great tutorials on youtube on how to fill your carts.

You can use polyfill stuffing from the craft store. I prefer blue foam stuffing - it last and lasts, holds its shape, easily washable. If you have a 510 or 901 there are precut blue foam pieces at StrictlyEjuice.com, Flavor Shop!. Or you can buy it uncut as Marineland Rite-Size U Foam Sleeve at Petsmart (aquarium dept).

I have been using the same piece of blue foam stuffing for a month and it's still as good as when I started using it. I washed it a couple of times (hold under running hot faucet water and then pat dry with paper towel). Good stuff.

Cartridges with the filling are the way of the past. I keep hoping they will just do away with offering them with starter kits in the near future and simply include a drip tip and a couple of pre-filled cartomizers. All of the time consuming modifications people use (pyramid tea bags, fluval, drinking straws, etc.) just to get a decent vape experience out of a cartridge just seems frustrating, and discouraging for someone new to vaping.

Just take a toothpick or some tweezers and yank that polyfil right out of that cartridge piece and drop a couple of drops of straight e-liquid into your atomizer. Take about five or so toots and give it another drop or two on the atty. And seriously, invest in some cartos. They're cheap (LiquidXpress sells five packs of the most awesome cartos for $8. That's less than $2 piece), easy to refill with your favorite juice, and will last however long it takes you to vape however much liquid the cartos will hold. For some folks that's an hour, for others it's all day.

Thanks everybody!! I appreciate it. I think that the problem with my carts is that there is SO LITTLE stuffing in there. It won't hold 4 drops of juice without spilling out all over the place. Then of course, you get a mouthful of the liquid when you try to puff. I'm gonna try the blue stuff and see what happens. And the teabags. And all the other stuff too!!!
Hugs to all,
Robyn
