What's up with the phlegm?

I've been vaping for over 6 months now, and within the last few weeks, I've had a lot of phlegm production in my throat. It usually is later in the day. Has anyone else had this happening? I'm not to worried about it, more of a nuisance than a problem.
For the record, I'm vaping 50/50 at 18 mg from mt baker using a carto tank on an eGo with boge carto's.

Anything with more than 30% VG and I start getting that problem.
The next morning I also have some congestion as well.

The more VG the worse it gets.

It doesn't make me avoid juices I really like that are 50/50 mixes.
But I usually won't go any higher than 50% on the VG because then it starts to disturb me.

I recently picked up some Mini Flings and I really like them.
But I think they are VERY high on the VG and using them is a decision I make based on the VG backlash I experience.

I noticed that since I started DIY juice, I switched to 70/30 PG/VG, that my chest does feel a bit heavy...I've already decided when I finish up the rest of my PG Based Nic, I'll order more of a different strength where I can start making my juices at 50/50.

To the OP...maybe its taking a bit longer for your lungs to start the "clean out"process??

First thing in the morning, then one good blow and its gone.
But, I've been having a runny nose during the day.
Wondering if'n its just the weather..........?
WARNING: This post may get a bit graphic.

When I use too much VG I notice that my mucous is much thicker.

This leads to feelings of heaviness in the chest, and mucous getting stuck between sinus and throat.
It can be really hard to get it out of there.

God do I ever hate that feeling.

If I blow my nose from the bottom of my feet, I can often get it all out.
But I have to plug one of my ears because I have to blow so hard I feel like that one ear is in danger.

The other ear seems to not be involved in this situation whatsoever.

You're going to make the other ear jealous, if you're not careful!
Have you tried a neti pot?
If I used high VG juice very often, I might consider it.
But as it is, I kind of avoid them for the most part, so I just deal with it when it does happen.

The only juice I use frequently that has high VG is the Vapor Station Frisco, which is a 50/50 mix.
And then there are those Fling Minis that I just bought, although I'm still working out how much I'll be using them.

I also get the feeling some of my Kick Bass Vapor juices are around 60/40 but I can't be sure.
I've tried asking, but they won't tell, same as Mrs T's Bakery.

After four years of vaping, I can pretty much tell the approximate percentage of PG/VG in the mix.

I find that I will get thick phlegm if I don't hydrate enough while vaping. Contrary to several posts in this thread, I find VG doesn't dry me out nearly as much as PG and thus have been steadily gravitating to high VG juices. When this problem happens, it generally is the post-nasal-drip in the back of the throat type of phlegm and is really horrid when it happens - gag reflex, etc. As long as I hydrate, this doesn't seem to be a problem. I drink lots of water these days.

What juices from KBV are a mystery? I ordered recently and there was an option to pick 60/40 or 70/30 VG/PG* on all juices.

I use a sinus rinse (similar to the neti pot) saline squirt bottle every morning before or after I take a shower. I try to hydrate as well as possible before I do this to yield better results. But I usually feel 100% better and can taste my juices more clearly when I do this. Once the evening sets in or after a large meal, I sometimes have to do it again. I also find myself still coughing up some junk almost all day just to clear my throat. I don't care, vaping is definitely worth it and I feel WAY better than when I was smoking.

As people have pointed out VG is dehydrating, which could be part of your problem but also remember all the hacking crap up that happened at about 6-8 weeks? You're not done with that by a long shot. As your respiratory function comes back and your lungs heal up you'll bring up more and more of the crud you didn't have the lung capacity to get rid of before. How long will depend on how much/long you smoked and how badly your sinuses/chest got congested.
