Does anyone know why my passthrew light works fine (so am assuming the passthrew is in working order) when there is nothing screwed into it

but soon as I put an atty or cart on there and press the button, the light doesn’t work and no response, seems dead, have tried with 10 different atty and cart also have the 5v passthrew and have the same problem any ideas

i have tried them both on heaps of different usb ports also

If its not an inline battery one (has a box with a battery in it between the body and hte plug in part) then it might be one of the wires inside the lead got broken. There's so many palces they can fail though, imo its just easier to get a new one (unless youre an electrician and handy with tools lol).
I like the 5v PT but they do break a lot, like iPod earplugs with those stupid tiny wires, (I swear they are made by the same people) and once they start doing that flashing thing I usually just buy a new one (or I used to when i used PT).
The Inline battery ones (3.7v) can do that as well but more often its the battery that's died and just needs replacing.
You should try cleaning hte contact plate first though - I had one that was supremely fussy and hated even a tiny bit of mositure on that, and refused to work until it was dry.

It sounds to me the connection (where the atty screws in) is the culprit. Have you tried cleaning that area? Get a q-tip (with a dab of alcohol) and clean any gunk out of it. Also a toothpick is good to get to areas a q-tip can't.

Thx kgeiger002, i tried cleaning them and no difference, but they are only a week or two old anyway and from 2 different suppliers and i only used them for like an hour or 2 max in those 2 weeks

i was thinking maybe my computer damaged them in someway

Do you only plug into the computer? Do you have a 5v/2 amp wall adapter you can try with?

That’s the thing it happened to the inline one with the battery in between and the normal pass threw its really annoying me
Lol no I’m far from being an electrician or handy with tools for that matter

You can try removing the battery and putting it back in - that works sometimes - but usally you just have to get a new one of those batteries. They are pretty cheap; I used to have a few on hand as they die without warning, soemtimes really quickly.

i bought a new batt for it and nothing but even if it did fix it still wouldn’t explain why the other pt has the same problem

This can also be due to the atty. The battery PCB protects it against shorts. Sometimes, the atty shorts out inside (in particular if the center connector is indented). I guess I missed it if so, but have you used a different atty? You're right tho, it's usually a PT failure.

EDIT: nm. You did try with other atties. Maybe a direct PT next time? Or look in the modding section for making your own (it will last longer).

P.S. Your 5v PT failed and the battery/usb/3.x volt all failed at the same time? And you tried other atties? And different power supplies? Ummm....... weird. Is your power supply frying them or the batteries? I assume the 5v is a non-battery type. If not, try one of those (using a wall-word/transformer or hub, not a computer).

First thing I did when I got a PT was tape around the wire to the base so it was stiff. So far so good but I probably just cursed it.
