Anyone else in here with me??
I blame my mother's ocd, but that's too easy. lol Any little change in routine, new places, new formats, new anything at all.... makes me nervous. Don't even mention crowds! eeekk. I used to have pretty bad panic attacks, but I have them under control almost always. Lots of meditation, breathing, things like that helped. I just avoid those things that send me over the edge. Like super-tight low ceilinged parking garages. bleh. Gives me shivers just typing it. I used to freak out over snakes, because my mother did. Then I got to know one as a pet and I have been fine since then. Needles also made me freak out. Thought I was going to flunk out of nursing school if I didn't get over it. Now I can deal with them ok, but I have to steel myself to it. I still don't like new things, but I make myself try them occasionally, because who is really boss in my life, me or the fear?? I can't let fear win all the time, but it is accomodated fairly often. lol So that makes me what, half crazy?? I didn't say it'd make sense, it's just how I manage.
What's your bug-a-boo and how do you deal with it?

Frogs, lizards, snakes .... when I was 14, one of the older boys ate a live tree frog for a $50 bet. I think that cinched it for me. Frogs are about the most icky thing I can think of. By extension, lizards and snakes are pretty icky too, I find. :)

But ... jj2, I have no love for roaches, don't get me wrong, but frogs ..... and they PEEEEEEE!!

My 13 yo daughter can kill and clean her own deer, no problem. What makes her scream and run in utter terror is an earthworm. Her brothers and sisters really get a big kick out of that, I can tell you. I know it's a serious phobia and all, but it's hard for me not to laugh at her about it. I know, I know BAD Mommy! NO Cookie!
I don't like the dark. at all. and it's not even something I ever even care if I work on or not. Dim light is fine, total dark is not. That relates back to a horrid childhood. I also won't fly for any reason. There is nowhere I have to be that badly. I don't go under things like houses or cars or underground. Because really, as soon as I am under there, the whole thing is going to colllaspe on me. I don't like high places because I know I am going to be the idiot to fall to her death. I like my feet on the ground, thank you very much. It occurs to me that my list is much longer than I thought it was.... interesting.
