I have been tasked to keep tabs on DB, Pen', and Hawk' . . . . .
When I'm not doing that I help manage a small trucking company.
Neener, neener! The trucking company I manage is smaller than yours! LOL
I want to congratulate those who have fought their addictions and come out of the darkness with success and new lives. I have been clean and sober for a few decades and my worst day sober is better than my best day drunk. There but for the grace of God.....
My husband and I have our own motor carrier authority and currently have one truck. There was a time we had 5 owner/operators leased on but then the diesel prices when through the roof and they moved on to greener pastures. Now, with just our own truck, we take turns driving and I have learned to be a TRUCKER! Asphalt cowgirl! It helps me feel as though I can contribute to our family. I have some medical/physical problems that make working full time in any other job pretty much impossible. Trucking is physically challenging at times but I can set my own hours and pretty much get the physical part done at my own speed.
I have had previous careers but the longest one was in mental health. I worked inpatient for years with all age groups. I was lucky enough to get into the emergency evaluation area and loved it. It was like being a detective trying to decide what was going on with a person....mind and body. I was also a certified drug/ETOH counselor and specialized in helping dually diagnosed folks. It was a very good career.
I am having a great time reading all these stories. Thank you for sharing this part of your lives. The artist folks keep me in a state of awe. I am not artistic. But I certainly enjoy the fruits of your labors.
