Make up and Skin Care products? I really need new skin care products. Moisturizer, serum, etc. I was hooked on Philosophy for a long time (QVC had good prices and I love so many Philosophy products). I finally ran out. It's a little too pricey for me to go back to it, so I'm wondering what you guys like to use.

Make up? I'm a Bare Minerals girl. I've been using it for years and I think it's great. I'd really like a less expensive alternative, but I have no clue. What do you guys like to use?

What are your "must have" make-up products?

I'm a total make-up-..... (can I say that word here? If not - I'm sorry). Products are my weakness. Some people like shoes, I like buying make-up

I'm always looking for the perfect eyeliner, and I'm always searching for awesome mascara.

So- what do you guys use!?? I need recommendations :)

Thanks!!

I don't really wear make up much. In fact all of my current make up is not so current (in terms of freshness) and needs to be tossed. For skin care I have...Neutrogena Acne Stress control face wash, Roc - multi correction night treatment (a few bucks more pricey than I'm usually comfortable with but not too bad), olay regenerist serum, olay pro-x age repair lotion (w/spf)..holy crap this was expensive but recommended to me and was told a bottle lasts a long time, skin effects eye cream.
My skin has changed so much in the last couple of years I don't even know what kind of make up I should even try....well I have a year and a half to figure it out (when I get my degree and have to go job hunting).

Moisturiser is Dove pro-age. It's the right consistency, dosn't sweat off and has a nice subtle "shine".
I don't use many foundations, but when I need it It's Olay definity. Then a top dusting of the mineral powder stuff.
Eye liner is line stiletto and Mascara is Lash stiletto. both make my eyes look enormous and nice.
Lip stain is Hard candy "lip tattoo" It lasts a long time, isn't too dark and dosn't kiss off, or get smudged off.
Eyeshadow is variable.

I have used Joelle mineral makeup from Ebay actually ebay has tons of mineral makeup dealers.Good luck on your search for awesome mascara, I've been trying to find that perfect mascara for 30 years.Ha! I use Philosophy Airbrush Canvas (mineral) - it's pricey......I tried Avon's version but their "natural" was too yellow for me.

Mascara - Covergirl LashBlastVolume (the orange tube) - thickens nicely - the other version for length - was too dry and didn't do a thing (that's the yellow tube). Tried to find Loreal's new one today- found the mascara with the serum in the base coat - but the serum by itself was nowhere to be found :-(

As for eyeliner - liquid, pencil or cream/gel? Revlon (Colorstay) makes a nice pencil that lasts, and lasts. They stopped making my favorite color though - Raisin - a deep wine. They make a similar color though. I just bought Loreal's new HIP cream liner in Aubergine - haven't used it yet (except on the back of my hand- it does dry and it doesn't smudge once dry) - it looks intensely purple in the pan but it doesn't look that way once applied.

Love bare escentuals eye shadow liners as just eyeshadow. Black ruby - it's a great color.

Thanks guys! I'm just so frustrated right now with my skin, my make-up... basically everything lol -

I hear you ECS on the "less expensive" causing break-outs... some things make me downright itchy and blotchy.

Part of my problem is that I have olive skin tone and it's hard to find the right shades, especially when I've tried "drug store" brands. I don't think that the drug-store brands are inferior, I just have a hard time finding a good overall match that doesn't make me irritated or blotchy.

Bug - the hardest thing for me is lip color! What is the brand of Lip Stain? I would definitely try that. I can't keep color on my lips for anything.

When I found products that work for me, I stuck with it for years. I think I'm just ready for a complete overhaul. A change of everything... :)

A friend of mine did a business research for her MBA on Loreal and found that, because they are owned by the same parent company as Lancome, they have all the same ingredients in their makeup and skin care products. Same stuff, different markets.

Personally, I loved Bare Minerals and would still be using it but it's too expensive at times.

It's true Mets! I used to work for a national medical laboratory whose parent company was Revlon! Strange that Revlon owned a medical laboratory, but at the time it was one of the largest medical labs in the country. Anyway - working there I found out that Revlon purchased their base ingredients from the same companies that the more expensive "Department Store" brands did.

Packaging and marketing drives up the prices... I'd be buying more Bare Minerals too but it really does get expensive and I am trying to "simplify" and scale down. I just can't afford to spend so much money on cosmetics anymore.

It's strange how I am able to justify almost anything though... I am saving money by vaping, and I can justify buying and trying "vaping" stuff right now... but I am tightening my belt on everything else!! What a strange mindset

I didn't hesitate last night ordering my Keurig K-cups by the case online last night eithter! But - I did hunt down and use the coupon code

My skin agreed so much with all the Philosophy skin care products I was using a year or so ago... It's just downright expensive and I know there has to be cheaper but just as good product available at the drug store!

Remie, I'm a product fanatic too ! I research everything to death before I purchase it, though.
Since you're a lover of Bare Minerals, you gotta try Everyday Minerals instead. I used Bare Minerals for years, then switched to the Everyday. I like it better, it's less expensive, they have a great website, and lots of samples to try. It's been widely publicized in all the women's mags for years, so maybe you already know about it. If not, check it out !
As for the mascara, I wish I knew. I do know that Sephora now offers a mascara sampler that has several small tubes of different brands in it. That seems really smart to me, and as soon as I can afford to, I'm gonna try that. Wish someone had thought of that sooner !

besthingever -thanks!! I will find that site and check it out. Wow, better and cheaper than BE is great! I love the mineral make-up, it just works for me all year long, and with my weird olive skin tone it's so easy to get a perfect match. During the summer when I tend to get pretty dark I just use the "Tan" bare Minerals shade which has always been a perfect match. I actually use a mixture of that Tan shade with a lighter shade all year.

Sephora is my weakness! My credit cards have been on the floor sobbing, melted and smoking more than once because of my Sephora addiction

Have you (or anyone) every tried a mascara that Sephora carries called "Fiber Wig"? Weird name, right? It's from Japan and it's the neatest thing.

It actually puts a tube around your eyelashes and then with the tip of the wand, you can extend your lashes with the "fibers"... I wear contacts and I was a little scared of the whole "Fiber" concept, but I tried it anyway. Loved it! To take it off you just put a warm wet washcloth on your eyes for a minute and slide the "tubes" off your lashes. The first time I did that I panicked because I thought all my eyelashes were laying in the washcloth

I think it was under $20.00 for the tube and I finally ran it dry. I loved it for doing my eyes to go out, during the day I usually stick with something a little less dramatic.

Prescriptives has some of the best mascara I've used and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat, and probably will if I fail miserably at avoiding Sephora  Which seems doubtful now that I read what you wrote about the mascara sampler!!

wow, I research products too - I love being a product junkie, but my wallet doesn't like it so much anymore!

One of the nice things about Everyday Minerals is that you can buy (at a very reasonable price) a sampler pack of the foundations to find the exact shade you need. And each little container in the sampler pack goes a very long way. I was hesitant to buy foundation powder without seeing it in person, but this made it very easy. Another thing (and this may not be a problem for you) but one of the components in the Bare Minerals (bismuth ?) made my face a little itchy if I started to sweat, and the EM powder does not contain this ingredient. At the time I started the EM, I was living in SW Florida, and sweating was an everyday thing, so I got to where I dreaded having to put my makeup on in the morning.

About the 'tube' mascara: There used to be a mascara like this called "Blinc": it actually formed little tubes around each lash, which were easily removed. I never got around to trying it, but it sounded very intriguing.

If you are a product fanatic like me, you should check out makeupalley.com. Some really comprehensive reviews on there. TONS of info on every kind of makeup and other HBA product you can think of.

Yep, I gotta get the Sephora sampler ! Haven't seen it in their store yet, just read about it in one of their emails.....

P.S. I stated in another thread on ECF that I considered myself something of a 'juice-.....'. And yes, I was (and still am) a 'shoe-.....'.

Only use patchouli for my DH. He was my high school sweetheart and we reconnected about two years ago. Patchouli always drove him crazy in a really, really good way. Still does. ;-)

Like all good scents it's best if someone who should be in your "personal space" ;) is the one who really gets a good smell.
