My original comment was just in jest (eeks I hope it didn't come across any other way though looking on it I see how it could) but yeah when dealing with the public any scents can be a polarizing thing.

Naw, you're good. I can't stand to be around someone who smells like they spilled their scent all over themselves.

My favorite scents are 'soap' - like.

Have you ever smelled Philosophy Amazing Grace or Pure Grace? So clean... Pure Grace is a "soap and water clean" scent, but light and soft.

Ahh... Sephora is calling my name - I must resist. I must resist... lol!

Another Bare Minerals girl here.....have worn it for years. I sleep and eat in it. However, my weekness is Estee Lauder. So, I use their products underneath. I'm older than dirt anyway and need the lifting power that the labels advertise. However, I only buy it when they have freebie offer kits a few times a year. Then, I have lipstick, eyeshadow and mascara to use and they're really quiet good. Plus, all the cases I receive get packed w/ e-cig stuff. As back-up, I find Oil of Olay has good products also, especially the face wash.

Happy faces, happy vaping, it's a win win......

A friend just gifted me with a huge bottle of Philosophy Inner Grace perfumed body emulsion. Haven't tried it yet, but I'll bet it smells wonderful. (Don't you just love how these companies come up with names like "perfumed body emulsion" ? I believe that's just good ol' "scented lotion".

Remie, I'm a product fanatic too ! I research everything to death before I purchase it, though.
Since you're a lover of Bare Minerals, you gotta try Everyday Minerals instead. I used Bare Minerals for years, then switched to the Everyday. I like it better, it's less expensive, they have a great website, and lots of samples to try. It's been widely publicized in all the women's mags for years, so maybe you already know about it. If not, check it out !
As for the mascara, I wish I knew. I do know that Sephora now offers a mascara sampler that has several small tubes of different brands in it. That seems really smart to me, and as soon as I can afford to, I'm gonna try that. Wish someone had thought of that sooner !

I don't wear any makeup most of the time (pointless when bathing & grooming wet dogs that are shaking water off in my face!) Have heard so much about the mineral makeups, but have never tried them. I would like to try some to have when I do wear makeup when we go out to dinner etc. I looked up the Everyday Minerals website. Thought I would try a sample of a couple of the colors, but any tips selecting a "formula" choice: semi-matte, matte, intensive, or originial glo? I don't have a clue what they mean!

I haven't been to the EM website in a while, but I thought there was a description somewhere on there about the difference in the finishes of the powder. I believe that in the past I have used both the semi-matte and the original glow. A couple of them are new since I last ordered (this stuff lasts a long time !). Depending on your age (I'm 50 with a number of fine wrinkles), I don't think you would want to go too matte. I don't like shiny either, so my guess would be to pick original glow or semi-matte.

Thanks! I ended up spending several hours on their website, and ordered a sample pack of the foundations in beige, and then a couple of other samples in other colors. It seems the only choice for the sample pack was the colors & formula's they include, so they give one of all, matte, semi-matte, original glow and intensive. I think I'll like the semi-matte the best, so wish I could have gotten them all in that, but at least it will give me an idea on the colors. :D Oh, and I'm 56.. so hoping I won't have powder lines in my growing wrinkle craters, LOL!

Good deal mixxy ! Their sample packs are great, and if they haven't changed the size of the containers since I last ordered them, can last quite a while.

Here are my cheap products. I tend to break out, and I have found it is the fragrance or perfume they add to cheaper brands that I have problem with. So I stay away from anything with a strong or perfumy smell.

I use St Ives facial cleanser w/2% salicylic acid. (It is currently a green tea version that seems very gentle to me). Baking soda makes the best facial scrub and works like a toner to re-balance the PH in your skin (if you have oily skin use vinegar). Baking soda and vinegar also work well on your hair to clean the buildup that products add.

As far as facial moisturizer, everything I have read says most are similar in ingredients, so I use Suave Aloe and Cucumber for $3.50 as my face lotion as well as body. They also say the only kind worth paying more for is those that contain silicone. I used to love clinique green tea serum($30) because it had the silicone, but have since (after trying alot of different brands) started using the equate or Walmart version of the Olay Daily Regenerating serum($12).

Hard to find good colors, but if you need a quick cheap mineral makeup, try wet and wild's brand ($4-$5). It is very cheap and does not contain talc and many of the ingredients that other more expensive drug store brands contain.

Perfume wreaks on me so I have found that one of the only fragrances I can wear is Calgon's Hawaiian ginger. It is light and sweet. ($3 for a huge bottle)

@shopgirl284, I agree about the baking soda scrub. I recently got a compliment about the smoothness (texture) of my skin from a young co worker. She asked what could she use on her skin and I told her baking soda. I don't see her often as she works in another area so a few weeks after I told her I saw her and noticed her skin looked smoother and asked her what she was using and she said baking soda, twice a week like you said.:)

Only use patchouli for my DH. He was my high school sweetheart and we reconnected about two years ago. Patchouli always drove him crazy in a really, really good way. Still does. ;-)
Friend of mine always wore that and I couldn't stand it.. Always smelled like my hampster cage to me.. I buy jasmine oil and dab it on..
