Hey, guys / gals I recently switched to using and 80 vg / 20 pg blend and noticed that when I'm chain vaping I get noticeable chest tightness and wheezing, I've been using this ratio for about a week and half now and assume its from the higher vg content. As I previously didn't have it. Now here's where my question / predicament is I switched from 50/50 vg pg because I was having very bad allergy symptoms that ive never experienced before ( irritated eyes, nose, sneezing 24/7 etc) after switching Ive lost the allergy symptoms and traded them for lung problems. I guess what I'm getting at is has anyone else been stuck In this predicament and what did you do to alleviate it? I buy my liquid my mt baker and they only offer the 80/20 vg pg mix or standard 50/50 or higher pg and I really don't wanna switch as I like their flavors and prices are great.
Any ideas?
Thanks

It's hard to know exactly what's going on with you, but I hope you don't have sensitivity to both PG and VG...

The chest tightness and wheezing definitely sound consistent with VG sensitivity, but I'm not sure that you're PG sensitive, too. Those symptoms sound more like regular allergies and could be related to the flavors or scent of the flavors you were using. PG sensitivity tends more toward sore throat and excessive drying out of the mucus membranes. A good way to check might be to order some unflavored nicotine liquid (maybe even try a high PG blend and a high VG blend to see what's causing the problem) through MBV. You can get it at your regular nic strength, and if the unflavored PG blend doesn't give you any problems, you could start blending in some of the flavored until you get to a concentration that you can tolerate. You might find that some flavors give you allergies and some don't.

I hope that this advice can help you solve your problem!

Thanks, definitely hope im not gonna be sensitive to both maybe ill try buying unflavored and try that. The flavors I normally vape are blubacco, hawk sause, and blue ice if that helps. Just trying to get everything dialed in as vaping has worked great for me and I don't wanna quit. Any ideas for formulas to tune my 80/20 to 70/30 or 65/35? Thanks again

High VG does that to me too.
Not cleaning and dry burning regularly (or replacing heads) OR too high of setting causes irritation. I use high PG and know I've waited too long when it makes me sneeze. Wait any longer and I'll get an irritated throat, lungs will feel bad when I wake up, ect.
Some flavors or too strong of flavor doesn't agree with me either.

Try turning your device down and use a clean or new head if you have a VV battery. If not, try a higher ohm head/atomizer

I just recently start having this problem also. I have problems with pg as it somehow makes my stomach hurts almost immediately every time I vape some with over 50pg. So I switched to high vg. But now feel like I can't breath very well and tightness of the lungs. I do have other health conditions and take 5 prescriptions over 10 pills a day though so not sure if that's affecting the vape. But I was fine when I was smoking.

Good luck to you. I think each person is different and it's best to see a doctor just to be save.

I am assuming you have been to a doctor and get regular checkups?

Not recently, I do have a history of asthma and lung prob,(yes I know I'm an idiot for ever starting smoking) but I am very in tune with my lungs and usually now when I have a serious problem. I could try using one of my old inhalers and see if that helps but I really don't wanna mask the problem.

This might depend also on the type of VG used in whatever brand you're buying, depending on the source of the VG and what's left over from processing. US made VG is, I think, almost exclusively soy VG, so if you have a soy allergy, that might be an issue.

It also could have been that the PG allergy problems were masking this the whole time. I'm asthmatic as well, but I've always found higher VG to be smoother and less harsh than 50/50. I started on 70PG/30VG, but now prefer around 70% VG.

I also don't have any food allergies or flavouring allergies, so can't give any advice there.

It also could depend on what setup you're using. I know that higher VG wicks slower, and I know that not getting enough airflow and dry coil hits can both cause chest tightness and coughing.

I'll have to try some different flavors next time I buy and see if that cures it, its just so hard to buy different flavors when you already know what's good.but my tastes are still changing I really didn't like menthol when I smoked but now I can't get enough of it. And I'm not as much of a fan of tobacco flavors now. I guess its just time for a process of elimination, maybe start diluting all my flavors by half.
