I usually refill when its empty which happens 3 or 4 times per day on a mini protank 3, more if I work in recoiling it (I have to test my experiments don't I? ;) ).

A coil should last at least 2 week if you don't use dark e-liquids but your milleage may vary. You might want to clean it at least weekly or bi-weekly.

I just cleaned 2 iClear 30 tanks and replaced a coil in one, as I pulled a rookie mistake as the tip of one coil went swimming down the drain.
No biggie, as I have new ones... I thought..

I just tested out the tank( with new coil ) and it dry hits, no vap ( yes I let it sit a few to soak up the juice). At first the tank read 1.7ohm, which a few of my tanks do on my MVP
then she fired up and vaped real nice, but the taste wasn't there, yet.. Normal Ive found after cleaning and such.. So I set it aside to reassemble the newly washed out tanks and fill them up. I went to vap on this new coil tank and its a dry hit, no vap. I check the ohms and now Im reading .7ohms, odd.. took the tank off, checked it out and popped it back on, I got a 2.0ohm reading, no fire/vap.
I repeated the previous step, and now it reads 1.5ohms and still no vap. grrr, confusing.

I assembled the other tanks ( w/ old coils ) and did the same as I normally do, fill, let sit to soak up the juice, tested the ohms and fired them up.. The flavors are great, the ohms
vary from 1.5ohm - 1.7ohm.. no problems at all.

Im thinking I have a bad ( new ) coil, so im rebuilding this dead tank, well disassembling it and going to put in an older coil to see if she fires up and vaps.

[UPDATE]
Just as I thought, bad coil. I popped in the old coil that was in the tank previously and just replaced the tip of the coil ( lil rubber/silicone piece) I lost in the drain when cleaning, checked the ohm and she read 1.5ohm. Reassembled, filled and tested.. We have Vap ! good taste and decent vap cloud.

Personally I clean my tanks about every two tank fills with a hot water soak for 30 minutes and a cold water rinse. I may be over cleaning but I figured I would err on the side of caution.

I went through 5 tanks today... and the night ain't over yet... If I would clean my tanks like you, I've would spend half day cleaning those little suckers :D

Sounds good, Ive been doing just the same. I thought maybe cause I was getting a flat flavor and low on juice that the remaining juice in the tank was getting old.
I have a few iClear30 tanks with diff juices, makes things a lot simpler :) I did clean one tank just to see if I could and being the OCD I am, I had to see the inner workings etc.
I put in a new flavor and all worked well. Again thanks to this site and all the info here helped.

Time to go research when to replace the coil. Someone told me depends on usage, one said after 1-2 weeks.. So im kinda lost as to when this is a doable deed.
the iClear30's [dual coil] (if I remember correctly) are 1.5ohm and mine are reading 1.6

thanks again for the feedback..!

The off taste you got may have been mild wick burn, or a mild dry hit. I know my vivi nova tank has a hard time wicking up the juice when it gets low. I try to refill by the time it gets to 1/4 full, but sometimes I can't if I'm not close to my stuff. Then I'll make sure I "roll" the juice in the tank so the wick kind of gets covered in juice each time I take a hit.

Tanks do come in different sizes, you know? It all depends how large/small your tank is. How many ml of juice does yours hold? The one I was talking about holds 6ml.

Good point! I use two tanks during the day, each one should have around 1.5ml only (aerotank and protank 3 - both minis) even so... 6 x 1.5ml = 9ml so I would need to clean the tank every 36h... well... actually I do... LOL :) However, if I had to clean it at every 3ml, I would go nuts...
