When I first entered the work-force oh so many years ago as a young, bright-eyed IT professional (& smoker), the grognards in the IT Dept. at the brokerage firm I worked for talked of the halcyon days of yore when smoking was allowed at one's desk. As a young smoker in a high-stress deadline-driven environment, I always thought that that would be awesome, but of course could never happen in this day and age.........

....or could it?......

A few years down the road, I transitioned from an IT "full-timer" to an IT consultant with comparatively more stress. Now that I've switched to vaping and since my current client is vaping-friendly, I am a vaping machine at my desk. I may change the title on my business cards to "PV". If only the young me could see me now. :vapor:

That is AWESOME!! I was a vaping machine at my desk.............they now are saying it is not allowed. Some how my Sr Mgr has access to a 2013 Employee Handbook, before it's even been published..........He emailed all of us stating vaping was not allowed as per the 2013 Handbook, how is that even possible????? hopefully we the vapers at work can change his mind.............

Bummer! Though I have to say that as a consultant, I'm subject to the whims and by-laws of the client. Some places it's very much OK, some places it may be OK if you're discrete, and some places it would definitely be verboten!! I expect to see more of the vaping bans happen - easier on management to ban all rather than face a challenge from smokers or non-smokers regarding vaping. I'm just enjoying it while I can. :)
