In point of fact, I feel compelled to state that whether you're totally satisfied with your current gear, or an uncontrollable collector (like a lot of us, myself included) the MAIN point here is:

Regardless of what you're spending...
You are NOT spending it on Cigarettes!!!!!

:toast:

Definitely like this point too. Yes I have spent a good amount of money on my gear... but after I use it... I STILL HAVE IT ^_^. Assuming the evil legislators and press don't get their way (though it will likely be true even if they do), my gear will still continue to hold at least some of it's value, so if at some point I decide I no longer want to vape (hah... unlikely) or I don't need as much gear or just want to upgrade/swap to something new, I can actually sell what I have to cover some of the cost. Try doing that with your used cigarettes.

The hobby/habit became cheaper than cigs for me about a month after I purchased a Reo/Reomizer. I vape a flavorless nic base that I mix myself during the day out of my Reo, at night I vape flavors that I've picked up from various vendors out of a Trident/Sentinel clone I picked up from fastech, I'd love to get the originals from Grand Vapor but, my wife would beat me if I spent another $300 on vape gear right now.

The first three months where bank breakers though. I bought several devices and lots of juice, trying to figure out what satisfies me. Now I know that I like rebuildable atomizers with micro coils.

It's supposed to get cheaper? oh man.......... dont go look at the advanced gear. my break even date will probably be around Aug 2032. lol

but ya know what? I will probably live that long now so i dont care.

Really though it's only as expensive as you let it get.. first it's ooo a new tank to try, then after a while you realize meh it's really just another cleromizer with a different shell, do i really need one of those too?.

my problem is looking at what I did save and build up then tossing that money on more gear. I didnt buy the gear first then think when will it break even more like hey its been 3 months look at that extra XXX in my bank account now, I think i need a new toy to celebrate :D

going into DIY juice was the real savings i think. my fav juice is about 16-20 bucks a pint to make (thats 16 30ml bottles)

While not vaping yet because I am having trouble finding a Halo G6 supplier in Canada, (AKA the land of never ending taxes) I'll assume that buying the starter kit with with an additional battery, mini tank?/clearomizier?, the 'high test' tobacco flavored sample pack of E juice and a 30mil bottle of 'high test' E juice (that I hope I like) at a pack a day ($12) I figure I ought to break even near midway the second week. Smoking costs me about $380 a month so I ought to break even fast!

[rant] The really scary part is I bought my first pack of smokes for $0.48 and always had a pack in my pocket from about the time it cost me $0.70 per pack. Back then that was about 20 mins of minimum wage work. The same pack today costs about 1.25 hours of minimum wage work. In another post I mentioned how the Government was squeezing the shrinking number of smokers ever harder to maintain the tax base from tobacco taxes. Do we see a pattern here? Are taxes up? Are wages down? Is it a combination of both? When you want the truth, follow the money! [/rant]

Don't get me wrong... I wasn't questioning your ability to do it!
Just whether or not it's going to save you money :D

As for licking the spoon, you can do that too! Up to a point!
When I diy... Specially with more complex flavor blends, I start with small plastic medicine cups, and an eyedropper...
Instead of PG/VG/Nic I use water...

Mix in small quantities, keeping track of how many drops of which flavors you use then add enough water to reach 1 mil, and taste, adjust as necessary.

This helps me get the flavor combinations to a close balance before I start using up my more expensive liquids.

Yes the taste will change with the addition of the Nic, and be muted by the vg, but you'll already bave the basic flavor ratios down...

You will have to adjust the amount of flavor mix you add to overcome the taste change caused by your base mix, but that art is easy.

I usually bottle my flavorless base mix, and then bottle my flavor mixes separately once I've found one I like...

But be prepared to adjust again because the flavors WILL change over time with steeping (age)...

After all that it's a simple matter of measuring the base into a bottle and adding the appropriate amount of whatever pre-bottled flavor blend for what you want to vape... Shake, steep, and enjoy :D

I will def keep the water preview in mind when I try my hand in the juice mixing :)

I R Jealous. I see 5 Kayfuns, 4 KFLs, 2 what I think are Ithakas and then several things I don't recognize. What are the other ones? Why so many of the same thing? Just easier changing of flavors/devices?

Three on the middle are Taifun GTs and two on the both sides of the first raw are DIDs. Taifun GTs are like Kayfuns some sort of modified drippers. DIDs are are Genesis style atomizers. I get more than one because I want to have a replacement of a replacement. Also, the quality stuff can be easily exchanged or sold for the same or better price.
