My EGO fast charger works great with my authentic Joy EGO but it's very finicky when I use it with an EGO knockoff I also have. I think I may have figured out how to get it working each time with my knockoff (without too much hassle). So if anyone is having an issue where it does not get a connection (no three blinks) here's what I do.
First clean/dry both the charger and battery connections with a paper towel or q tip (actually you should do this each time prior to charging)...if that still doesn't work then grab a toothpick and stick it in the circular groove within the charger's connection and just scrape any gunk that's in there. This seems to get the connection working and charging very good.

A word of caution here. Maintenance is one thing and should be done thoroughly periodically, kudos.

But be sure the battery is capable of being charged at the faster rate. It is recommended to use the chargers that come with the batteries. E.G the reg 510 batts cannot be charged with the eGo charger (too fast) but the eGo can be charged with the 510 charger, just takes longer.

Oh it is. It's an EGO battery knockoff from Tasty Vapor. The fast charger is recommended for it.

What Switched said is spot on.. another thing that you might want to take into consideration with "knock-offs" since more and more seem to be popping up.. is the possibility of polarity differences.. meaning the +/- of a knock of may be different then the ego, quickest way to find out is with a multimeter... test the voltage if you put the red lead to the center connection and the black lead to the out connection of the battery ..you should get a positive read out... if not then DON"T USE the ego fast charger on it (the Knock off)

Very very good point LGD. I was laughed off the forum once for making that statement, but it is true nonetheless. Some mfrs do this on purpose so their kit remains proprietary, with each other.

I understand all the concerns but this battery does charge with the fast charger (as it should). The only problem I have (from time to time) is simply with the charging connection.

No problem! The post has been replied to and amplified with words of cautions for others, not yourself per se.

Also - when your ego charger is acting up - it may not be the charger OR the battery -

My first ego was also one of those Tasty Vapor knockoffs - which I bought with the knockoff ego charger and the wall charger adapter. I then bought 2 Joye ego batteries separately (not in kits) because I have never see the green or blue ones in kits.

After a month one of my Tasty Vapor batteries died around the same time my Tasty Vapor ego charger would ltd would stay green and would not charge - I thought the 2 were and connected and ordered an ego charger. After a week of living off my old npros the new ego charger came - and it worked but kept flicking to green as it charged (which my tasty vapor charger had done also - so I did not think much about it.

I happened to plug my ego charger into my laptop one day to charge instead of the Tasty Vapor wall charger adapter - and noticed the ltd held a steady red instead of flicking to green - I dug up my old Tasty Vapor charger and plugged it into my laptop and it worked fine also. I then realized that all along it was the (greatly underpowered) tasty vapor wall adapter that was the main problem - not my new or old charger.

So I guess my two cents is that if cleaning does not bring a charger back to life - check out the usb port before making diagnoses of death
