I went out to a nice dinner a couple nights ago and living in california I had to go vape outside in the smoking area. The smokers saw me vaping and instantly assumed the worst. How can I put this, they said oh you can be smoking anything in that and no one would ever know. I was so offended I explained I had quit smoking and this is a nicotine e juice liquid I'm smoking. But this is not the first time this has happened to me! They see my vaping and instantly assume I'm smoking a illegal substance. This is very upsetting to me. Even though I explained exactly what I was doing I still got the evil eye.. this really bothers me.

Some people are going to judge based on ignorance and perception. It's unfortunate but it seems to be human nature for some. Just be proud that you are not smoking and in a better place. Don't let others try to get to you over time the ignorance will get better and these types of encounters will go away for the most part.

You're in Cali...what do you expect? LOL

My wife grew up in Anaheim and had the same experience last month when she went to visit her kids. It seems that no matter where you go there, unless you're of the same mindset, you're pointed out as a leper. Sorry, that's just my experience, and I mean no harm to those that live there.

I'm more the type of person that as long as your actions don't interfere with my life, then it's none of my business.

I just tend not to care about what others think about my vaping , I rather face some ignorant people than smoke again

Realsis, I would have to respect someone in order to give a rats ..... about their opinion of me or my activities :)

Think about it.... A random group of smoking strangers who you are likely to never meet again?

Also they were standing there smoking! They likely did believe you but then had to be jealous that you quit smoking while they are standing around polluting their bodies :)
We read it here all of the time where people are standing around smoking and then approach someone vaping and say something stupid like "Those things are bad for you or posion or whatever"

That always cracks me up since it is said usually by someone puffing away on a real cig!

Well, I am ....and it still does
Really? You need to work on a walking around with a scowl on your face then.

I've been vaping for 5 years and have never had these things happen to me.
And I really want someone to come up to me with an ANTZ attitude.

But it just never happens.

Well, I work in an office complex in Costa Mesa, and I've noticed lots of vapers here. The vapers mix right in with all the smokers at the smoking areas without any incident at all. If anything, it's causing the smokers to at least give vaping some thought. As far as I can tell, vaping has become fairly ubiquitous here. And, I'll bet, the more local governments rail against vaping, the more popular it will become.

Well, you do live in what might possibly be called the vaping capital of the world...
SoCal Vape Shop Retail Directory

And that map is woefully out of date.

For instance, it shows one vape shop in Oceanside, but I know for a fact there are at least five vape shops now.
And the numbers seem to grow by the day.

Yeah, there are about four vape shots in my neighborhood, that I know about. There are two very close by smoke shops, and they both now have as much vape gear as cigarette stuff. In fact, there is so much gear and juice available here, I don't really need to worry about having back ups for my back ups. If something fails, I can just run to the store really quick.

Lol. Yes, it is cooler to vape than smoke here. Those people that gave her a hard time are just idiots. Hope she stops giving them free rent in her head.

Probably from out of state or something. Everywhere I go I see someone vaping, and never ever have I seen any adverse attitudes from the non-smokers about it.
