When rating how well a product works, why dont we use Boge 510 cartos as a known ref?

I read reviews on the forum, and look at videos and everybody says "Its 7 out of 10" or "man its great" or "doesnt suck" etc.

The trouble is, there's no reference so any review still doesnt give any real info, its totally subjective, whats great to one person may be totally inadequate for another.

Why dont we use new boge 510 cartomizers as a known reference?

I think just about every experienced vaper has used a boge 510d cartomizer on a nominal 3.7 volt Joye battery at one time or another.
We could use those as our reference "10" and everything could be compared to that: Vapor production, flavor, and throat hit using the same juice.

Furthermore I'd like to see reviews that show initial impressions, and then 1 or 2 weeks later. The eGo-T is a good example, it gives a GREAT first impression but after a week or two it tends to get hoplessly clogged up and uncleanable.

If not the boge cartos, then how about a regular Joye 510 cart/atty combo. Thats probably the most common platform out there. However I think the boge cartos would make a better ref point as they blow the 510s out of the water when brand new.

Thoughts?

It is very hard to objectively quantify subjective experience. And even with the same equipment people will often get very different results. My eGo-T is still GREAT after almost a month with the same atty vaping 3mls a day and having none of the problems I've heard others complain about. I have never used any kind of cartomiser, so maybe I'm missing out or maybe not. If I do get some for testing, and they turn out to be lemons, aside from a total failure, how would I know they weren't the pinnacle? Every body weighs different factors...well differently. For some Flavor is more important than Throat Hit and for others Temperature and Mouth Feel are the key. Sometimes the most useful reviews are the negative ones, "Yuck!" is almost universally understood. Perhaps another approach:

There was a radio talk show devoted to beer I used to listen to years ago that rated beers on the "6-Pack method". You're going on a trip, and you can ONLY take 6 beers with you...No sharing. How many bottles of 'this' beer would you put in your 6 pack? This scenario forces you to choose what you really value in your selection and how each ranks compared to your other choices. It is very much a situation that many vapers find themselves in daily (This is yummy now, but do I really want to be stuck vaping Grape all day? How is THAT going to mix with the other flavors I'm packin' today? Damn it! I knew I should've grabbed that bottle of Camel.)

I whole heartedly agree with you on the need for "follow-up" reviews. Juice changes as it ages, so this could be a deciding factor in planning how much of a particular juice to order at one time.

I am an experienced vapor of over a year and many mods, batteries, and carts / attys. I have never used a Boge 510. If its good, cool, but as I stated I am experienced and have never even seen one ...

I've never used a carto and probably never will. I have a drawer full of vaping gear. It's all subjective, i think. Reviews are nice to see but I've never based 100% of a decision to buy or not to buy on reviews. Although, I have made decisions about who I do business with based on reviews and that has served me really well with vaping gear.

And my ego-t works just fine. The first atty lasted two and a half weeks and I'm sure would still function as expected if I could remember where I put it. The second one has been A-OK for 10 days so far. I don't even clean them. I just blow the attys out between tanks and that's it.

I consider myself to be an experience vaper and I've never used a Boge carto. Just FYI, the eGo is only a 3.4V device. Anyway, I use and prefer the following cartos:
SmokeTek 2.0 LR
IKV 510 and 808 Megas

I have some of the IKV LR Mega 510 and 808s on the way. I'm looking forward to giving those a go, and hoping they will become a standard addition to my vaping gear.
