When should I top off a cart?

Howdy folks! (Looks like that's going to be my customary greeting.)

I don't care what Grimm Green says (ok that's not true at all, but read on!), I like carts. That being said, when is the optimal time to top off a cart? Is it when the flavor quality starts to decrease? Or is it when the vapor quality starts to decrease? If so, then how "bad" should I let it get before topping off? I know I'm going to get a lot of opinions here, but that's what I'm looking for.

I have been topping mine off when vapor production drops and I get a slight burnt taste.

Why wait that long? If you've been hittin it, add a few drops whenever you can. A drop on the bridge at the same time prolongs the vapor also. Just my .02
