I rarely throw a BVC coil away. Here is my method.

If I suspect a coil problem, I replace it and throw the old one in a glass jar. The problem is solved but that does't mean that coil was bad.

When I get 4-5 BVCs in the jar, I agitate them thoroughly with Everclear (grain alcohol), let soak for 10-15 min, agitate again, remove and let dry.

After that, I have over a 90% success rate reusing those washed coils as if they were new.

I have a dual parallel in my atty that's been in there for a couple months. All I do is dry burn it every week or so. I have an Aerotank that's 3 months old still on the same coil. I don't use it that much but I'm still getting good flavor and vapor out of it. I don't change them til I get burnt hits but that's just me.

when they taste burned or start hitting like a blu, thats when i know theyre done. i dont clean them or dry burn them or anything, i just buy new ones. i dont think you can dry burn with the wicks still in, can you?
If its the same material used in kanger coils you can. Silica I think. Dry burning cleans the wire and wick. Looks about like new after. Youtube has vids showing how to do it and what the results look like.

I been cleaning kanger single coil heads for about a year.
Remove the the chimney and seal, remove the flavor wicks, dry burn the coil 5-6 seconds on/off, torch the flavor wicks with a butane lighter or torch until clean. Re-assemble and vape away.
Note: if you have replaced the silica wick with some other material this is not for you.
I have used the same process on two nautilus BDC heads with success also. But only once, because I gave away my two nautilus tanks.
