When upgrading, what really matters??

OK so I have been of the smokes and at this vaping thing for over a month and keep looking to make the experience better as I am sure most people do. I am currently using a X6 battery or Ego Twist with either a Kanger Mini Protank 3 or a knockoff Protank 2 and am pretty happy every time I take a step up.

I want to get even better tasting and bigger hits so what will do that?

After variable voltage on a battery and besides battery life what matters?

After a dual coil tank what matters?

Is everything after this just personal preference or are there good reasons to upgrade further in relation to hits and taste?

The variable voltage battery and tanks are both quality items, and should satisfy you quite well. Are you looking for more vapor production, or more of a throat hit? With the protank, a simple mod is to increase the airflow holes on the tank. The stock air holes are a bit restrictive, taking a 1/16 bit and opening up those holes will increase your vapor and density of the smoke greatly. Definitely beats buying a new setup

I have a couple so I will try that on one. I'm looking to get a better consistency with throat hits, more vapor and taste. More then that though I am looking to understand what matters to get those things. I see all this expensive stuff and am wondering if anything makes them better.

A month ago I didn't know there was more out there then the gas station brands, two weeks ago I did not know what difference the variable voltage made, and a week ago I did not know what a difference the dual coil makes.

I don't want to keep moving up a step at a time. I want to understand what is important so I can make a very educated decision on my next upgrade.

I would suggest a kayfun. You can get them everywhere for as little as $20. It is easy to build and with a little practice you can tailor the build to what you like. Good luck

Exactly, I've been through the same process, gas station and up xD.
I'll be honest, I don't see the big deal with dual coils, while they may give you a little more taste, they burn through juice A LOT faster and gunk up sooo much IMO.
Basically for more flavor/throat hit, increase your PG ratio. For more vapor, increase airflow or use a higher VG mixture.

Basic rule of thumb:
-more flavor/throat: high PG, 70PG/30VG or above
-more vapor: high VG, 30PG/70VG or more

I am trying to experiment with different juice. I think that will be an ongoing thing though where as with the equipment I want to get to a stopping point or at least a slow down point.

Not sure what you mean by this but if you get a Kayfun lite + V2 I don't see why you would ever "need" another tank. When it comes to mods it all depends on how much you want to spend.

What I am looking to find out is if the Kayfun that StratMarsh suggested or antother tank for that matter will be an improvement in anyway to the tanks I use now.

The first tank I got was a generic C5 that came on my Ego Twist. After trying the Mini Protank 3 I noticed much better taste, more vapor, a better hit and less leaks so I bought a another one and threw the C5 out. I'm wondering if there is any tank that might make me feel that way about the Mini and also what I should know about what can make a tank better,

I think the aerotank and mini are a step up. The stainless steel construction is what I like. I use the old style dual coils at 1.5 ohm and like them better than the new.Then get a good device with a little more oomph than an eGo. The MVP 2.0 is a nice little device, solid built and not too pricey.

For NON rebuildable tanks pyrex glass would taste better than plastic tanks, dual coil usually gives better flavor (depending on juice) and will give more vapor than a single coil. More PG more flavor more throat hit less vapor. More VG sweeter less flavor more vapor. But, too much VG in a single coil tank doesn't always work well.

Top coils warmer vape more vapor, bottom coils taste better imo.

Some people prefer carto glass tanks for flavor, but doesn't work well with higher VG or 100 VG.

After variable voltage then the next step would be a variable wattage device then a mechanical mod after that if you're not satisfied still.

After a dual coil tank you can try rebuildable tanks at lower ohms and or later dripping atomizers.

And yes it's just preference, some people are fine with just a not variable simple 510 stick pen and a cheap tank and some people are good with a VV 510 pen or a VV/VW mod or mechanical mod there's people who have all and rotate different devices and set ups for different reasons, and there's people who are never satisfied.

If you have a setup that is good enough to keep you off analogs and your satisfied there's no reason to upgrade.

Yes, the KFL is a huge step up. Better flavor and vapor. You do have to build your own coils but that's really pretty simple. Check fluid vapes for the model I posted. They have it for $30.

What would give a battery more "oomph"? That's what I want learn about. Besides looks and battery life what reasons are there to get a different battery? Do any of them do something that will make the vaping better?

Thanks that was some good info on the tank material that I did not know. How does wattage effect things? I am guessing it's different then voltage?

I use RDA's and RBA's as well, but I still enjoy my Protanks. But then, I like to have 15 or so different flavors going at once. I don't have an ADV (all day vape). I love variety!

Variable Wattage will keep you at consistent power automatically and with variable voltage you would have to manually adjust when your ohm resistance changes.

So besides the adjustments is there a good reason to upgrade batteries? Is there a reason to have a higher watt battery when I usually keep my batteries around 3.7v before I get dry hits anyway?

Basically I am just trying to figure out if there is any practical reason for these expensive batteries I see or if they are just to look cool and have options that don't make the act of vaping any better.

Really? $20? Last night I was curious about the price of the kayfun because I hear so much about them. Did a quick google search and hit a link...the place I looked was selling them for $99 USD (though maybe that was the KF lite?)
Is there really that much difference between KF and KFL?

First upgrade should be battery. Step up to a MVP for a decent budget box mod or an evic, provari, svd if you like the tube form. All will work well with your pro tank and since you have the mini 3 you should already have airflow control. IMO learn to rewick your protank heads with cotton or rayon for a big boost in flavor and vapor
