Where Do I Go From Here?

What are you using with the ego right now? Are you using a clearomizer (stardust or kanger T3 type) or a cartomizer? Cartomizer with tank?
If you're using a clearomizer with wicks, I would say you might wanna try a 1.5 Ohm cartomizer next. It'll vape a bit warmer than your clearomizer. If you like that better than the clearo, then get a small tank to put on it (A big tank would look silly on an eGo IMO). I personally like cartos better... A carto/tank setup, FOR ME (your experience may be different) will last all day, and give a better flavor. The clearos, again in my experience which is very short, suck up juice pretty quick, and the vape flavor is inconsistent.
If you're using stardust top coil clearomizers, I would also suggest trying out a kanger T3 bottom coil setup. I haven't tried one yet, but I hear they are excellent.

whatever you decide, do plenty of research first, and even check your local forums for the ability to try something.
Also stay dependable. Nothing worse than putting your eggs in a single basket and having a failure to the point where you don't have a means of vaping. I try to convert a lot of people at work, and they try it, and the love it, and a week later i see them with a cig in their hand. "oh my battery died" Or "i don't have an atomizer"
Dependability is key for me so when i looked at mods, that was my biggest selling point. I went with a silver bullet, the thing is a tank.
