Am also new to vaping so only have limited input to offer....

Something I've picked up on though - if vaping is something you're looking to commit to then it's worthwhile doing some research and perhaps splashing out on a really nice unit. I myself have a Kanger EVOD, which I love. Some people prefer something that doesn't stand out in a crowd, and so they get the mini cigarette lookalikes - I've tried one model and I found that it didn't pull near as nice as my Kanger. I can't give input on any other units cause I haven't tried them....

If having something that looks like a cig isn't paramount then you can get set up really easy with something that doesn't break the bank and you won't outgrow.

I used a cigalike as a stepping stone knowing I would upgrade quick. I got a 1100mah variable voltage batt, evod, and charger for $30 bucks and it rocked. Never looked back. If you can wrap your head around the looks then get something similar as a starter. You'll likely end up there shortly after either way.

I would suggest starting with a couple of ego twist batteries and either cartomizers or the evod/T3 bottomcoil cartos. I personally use crystalclearvaping for cartomizers and sun-vapers for the evod/T3s. The vision spinner batteries are also quite good and a bit easier to see where you have your voltage set.

When I first started vaping, I was totally lost and all the differet #s and connection names were like a foreign language. To help with that, I watched alot of utube vids. I highly recommend watching pbusardo and just going back in time to see his reviews on stick batteries and cartos.

John, one of the things that I didn't really understand when I got into vaping was how the separate pieces work. If I did I wouldn't have gotten a kit as much as I would have made my own.

ego threaded batteries work with a zillion different tanks. So getting the right batteries is easy. You don't have to go crazy there. Get 2 to start. Maybe a 900mah and 1100mah. They will last 9 hours and 11 hours give or take. You'll never have a panicked "all my batts are dead!" moment.

Tanks get a lot trickier. I feel that I got lucky when I chose an evod as my first tank. Not saying that's right for everyone but they are a great performing tank with little to worry about. I think bottom coil tanks are probably the best for beginners. I watched a fried deal with long wicked/top coil tanks and I knew it wasn't for me. I just wanted to fill and go. I've found maintaining them to be a snap. Just wash with warm water and drop the easy to unscrew head in alcohol from time to time to maximize lifespan. When the head starts acting weird after cleaning just toss it and screw in a new one. You can get 5 for 6 bucks. There are plenty of options though. I'm just speaking of my personal experience.

I think most end up going the variable voltage route pretty quickly. If you buy fixed voltage batts don't spend much money on them. Look for a deal. They may end up being backups sooner than you think. Variable voltage is not complicated at all. There is nothing to it. You'll get the hang of it in less than 5 minutes.

Juice is a major wildcard. You will waste money there. Order sample packs wherever possible when figuring out that beast. Nothing worse than hating a 30ml bottle. Start with 10ml tops and don't pay more than $5 each unless you are getting some of the high end popular stuff. Go to a local vape shop and sample away. I found 2 of my faves by sampling stuff I thought I would hate. I never would have ordered those flavors by description alone.

It's a wild wild ride and it will take time to get into the groove. Sure is fun though. And a wallet vacuum.

Start at the beginning.

Like most have said above, get an "average" e-cig, maybe Variable Voltage so you can adjust the heat level, and some cartomizers and/or clearomizers and juice. vape for a bit. See vendor list on the first page.

I'd either A) get a kit with 2 batteries, or B) a setup with swappable batteries and a charger. You have to hunt around.

Vape for a while and decide on further options. I actually don't recommend that you get a real high priced system to start out since you're just exploring vaping and don't even know if it will work for you yet. It isn't for everyone (although I contend that 99.9 % will succeed with it to some degree if they choose to).

Vape for a while, hang for a while, read up and research. Use any savings to upgrade later.

Maybe check out "spinner" or "twist" kits. You'll need more cartomizers than you think.

It depends on what your looking for. If you don't want all the fuss the simplest is to just buy those ecigs that look like cigarettes. Head on over to your nearest 7-11 and buy an e-logic, or Blu and see if you like it. If you your happy with that you might be able to save some money and order from online suppliers.
But if your looking for flavor variety you pretty much need to take up mod vaping. Many online vendors offer starter kits, although a bit more pricey than the look-a-likes. The ego variable voltage devices are pretty reasonably priced and the batteries are already built into the device. Couple an ego with some evods (evod is a delivery device that attaches on a mod, and is what atomizes and holds your e-liquid) and purchase some liquid from a reputable vendor (check out the e-liquid forum on this site) and you should be good to go.

Godd Luck, and Welcome!
