Hello! I currently smoke about half a pack to a full pack of cigarettes (Marlboro Lights) a day depending. I recently decided that I would like to quit smoking traditional cigarettes and switch to an E-Cig. So yesterday I purchased a Blu Starter Kit. The first dozen drags were ok but after that the battery died and now the charger pack included in the kit won't charge at all.

That being said, smoking the Blu E-Cig did very little to reduce my urge to have a real cigarette.

I am very new to this and I really need someone to point me in the right direction. Do I find an E-Cig with a higher nicotine output or something?

You're on the right track!! I too was introduced to ecigs via Blu. My experience was a little better in that they were at least functional.
They certainly didn't satisfy though. The experience and joy get much much better beyond Blu.
Your head can swim within this whole industry, and it's growing/changing daily. You'll find more satisfaction and cost savings with a simple set up; a couple EGO-style batteries, a couple EVOD clearomizers, and a bottle of juice. From there, the ecig world is your oyster.
This forum is great 1st step, and a fact finding visit to a local Vape shop should be your next. Good luck to ya.

Yes that nicotine level will impact your urge to smoke. I was a pack a day Camel Light user and I started at 18mg nicotine so you may want to start there or maybe 12mg nicotine. I dont have any experience with the Blu Cigs so I will let some else chime in on that.

I would check out a local vapor store for an EVOD starter kit or something similar.

Edit: Oops got ninja posted about the starter kits... lol

Hey! Welcome to ECF! It's not really so much the nicotine content, or it may not be... but 99.9% of the "cig-a-like" types are just inadequate to the task, as you so quickly discovered -- in flavor, nicotine content (and delivery of that nicotine), and battery life. Really a much better starter-kit is something like an eGo-type, and others along that line, with a tank of some kind attached to it to hold and vaporize the e-liquid. Once I "graduated" from cigalikes, I got an iTaste vv/vw v3 (variable voltage and wattage, so you can customize the vape to suit yourself), and topped it with a Kanger T3S tank. Most of the really starter eGo-types don't have the variable voltage/wattage feature, so you're stuck with a base output -- much like the cigalikes. There are quite a few of the eGo-type that do offer the variable voltage feature, but that means you have to be aware of the resistance of your atomizer and adjust the voltage to suit it. If you have variable wattage, all you have to figure out is what suits you, and you can pretty much leave it at that setting, depending on what e-juice you're using.

At the level and strength you're smoking, I would estimate that you may need e-liquid in the 12mg strength; you might find that you need something stronger, at least at first, but at your smoking level, the 12mg probably won't make you nauseous, so you can get acclimated to vaping.

Welcome to a whole new world! :thumb:

To add to my earlier post, a kit like this, is a great way to start. You can find something like this in your local vape shop or order online. You'll likely get a better deal online though. There is much more to experience than this, but this is a good simple setup that will work great in the beginning.

Buying a higher nic juice will help but getting a better PV will make a huge difference. I won't suggest any particular one but a good middle of the road mod with a RBA will help. If cost is a big consideration then check the classifieds and wanted section once your post count allows you to. I don't do tube mods and I may have a extra old VV/VW Vamo v5 I can let you try. PM if your interested and when your allowed.

Welcome to ECF! The folks here have already provided some good information. I would support their recommendation for a good started kit. Typically an 850 or higher battery (higher provides longer time before needing recharge), some type of clearomizer (where the juice goes) and some good juice that you like.

If you have a vape shop near you, go visit. Talk to them about a starter kit and try some juices to see what you like.

My local shop provides a starter kit with two 850 batteries, two clearomizers and a charger for around $46 as a reference.

If you want to save a little more and not in hurry, check out vendors on line and order something.

Good luck and I hope you find something that works for you!

Hello and welcome!

Here are some links to get you started. This was from a post I made earlier this week.

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.

1. A Good Starter's Setup for a Beginning Vapor
2. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods
3. Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments.
4. Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

And here are a few more on "vaping terminology".

1. A – Z E-Cig Glossary
2. e-Cigarette Jargon and Terms – eCig 101
3. Vaping Glossary - what does it all mean?
4. ECF Abbreviations 101

#4 is very handy when trying to decipher ECF members "slang".

I think you have gotten some great advice. It is great that even though the Blu did not work, you took the initiative to search further.
Maybe you can return the Blu for a refund or even a replacement that you can use as a back up if ever needed?

Hey guys!! After all of your AWESOME advice I went over to a local Vapor shop yesterday evening. After going through the basics with the very intuitive gentlemen that worked their I decided to go with a Large eGo-C Twist. I believe it has an 800 MaH battery and I went with a 2.4ml tank with a 25mg Nic Vanilla flavor. I've been smoking it since yesterday Evening and haven't had a cigarette since, nor have I wanted to! The flavor is great and I LOVE that I can adjust the power settings. I'm so happy I found this forum as I was pretty close to throwing in the towel and continuing to smoke cigarettes but after trying this amazing advice I can honestly say I don't plan on ever going back.

Thanks guys!!
