right here in front of my laptop. I keep all my stuff in bins on a table behind me

For spill sake I use a foil then paper towel lined (dedicated) tray that has sides on it. That way if I spill at least it is contained. If i don't spill anything on it I reuse it next time.
O.K. O.K., sometimes I'm just plain lazy and mix right on the kitchen counter(good light, old eyes),since I'm no nicotine its no biggie if i spill a bit.

I use the kitchen table, line it with some newspaper in case of spills and then I just scoop it up and throw it away. Or once in a while if it is a quick and easy one, right here at my laptop.
On my coffee table, sometimes in a fairly large 3/4" deep tray.
Most of the time, I'm working with small amounts of base that I premix down to 19.5mg/ml, for use with 5-10% flavoring. I don't always use the tray for that.
I do use it when working with the larger bottles of 36 or 48mg/ml, to lessen the risk of getting any in the carpet, which could be a fairly big problem.

I picked up a tray at Walmart yesterday and when I went to set it on the stove I knocked a 30 ml glass bottle of peach flavor on my concrete floor. Y'all can't call me anything that I haven't called myself. &^$##$%$@$*
Well, first I was doing it in this old camper I had, but as I got deeper into DIY I needed a larger space; luckily this guy set me up with a sweet mixing station beneath a laundromat. A little while ago we had some... disagreements, so now I rent various houses for a day or two & mix a few batches there.
My dining room table so I can still watch the big screen and I have plenty of room to vape and relax while I'm doing it.

I don't know about all this gear for mixing. I just use 48 mg nic and don't sweat any of it.
I do understand the precautions and house renting if you're mixing humungous batches... or dealing with high concentrated nicotine... just the fumes from nicotine could be enough to poison you, so the spray painting booth is an excellent idea!
I often do while driving in my car...hold the steering wheel w/ my knee (works pretty well) and pipette in my mouth, nic bottle in right hand and VG in my left... It annoys me when I get a text or a phone call while I'm mixing up my juice. To make folks feel at ease, I only mix up what I'm going to vape for the next little bit...
I'm always worried about spills, access to running water, and my clothes. These things lead me to start mixing in the bath tub, naked. I have considered turing a toaster into an atty and making a 30 gallon batch.
