Where do you stand on power?

I've always tended to go for maximum watts without burnt hits with whatever regulated devices I was using. Typically 7 - 10 watts with typical juice delivery devices at 1.8 to 3 ohms. That seemed to maximize flavor, TH and vapor for me.

Then I discovered mechanical mods and RBAs/RDAs and now I'm running about 16 watts, 0.8 ohms in single coil RBAs/RDAs and 26 watts, 0.5 ohms (two 1 ohm coils) in a dual coil Trident RDA.

I also make my own juice so I can tailor it for the device, instead of the other way around. However I never go over 18% total flavoring and some of my juices have only 5%.

When I first started vaping I always tried to hit the highest power without getting a dry hit. (After all, isn't what the guys in the videos do to get that great flavor/vapor production?) I even went so far as to modify my coil/wick builds so that I could drive up the power and still feed it enough juice.

Recently though, I find that for some juices lower power is where the flavor sweet spot is.

So, do you run your power on the high side?

Or do you play with it to hit the flavor sweet spot?

Edit: What ohm do you run your coils at and why?

That. I'm really not concerned with the numbers, if it tastes good at 8 watts, I don't care that it's 8 watts, I care that it pleases me.

As to ohms, for clearomizers, around 2 ohms (1.8-2.2) feels right.

For carto setups I like under 2 ohms. I haven't tried any dual coil cartomizers yet.

I vape between 0.29-0.43 ohm. I have tried multiple builds of varying resistances and I can tell you from experience that a proper 0.4 ohm coil will bring out the flavors as they were intended to taste like. You won't wanna use a tank after dripping unless you absolutely have to lol.

Sub-Ohm is awesome.
Been using a megneto w/ the igo-W dual coil.
I'm around .4 - .8 ohm. (Yes, 30A Batts)
However...there are soon to be 60A Batts...which is kind of cool.
- Although, I still won't go below .4 lol

Seriously sub ohm for the guy you are responding to is probably not a good idea. He needs to do a ton more homework before it is even close to safe for him.

PBusardo (YouTube username) is very well at explaining safety with sub ohming.
But all in short anybody going sub ohm at all should have MNKE 30A or at least any other 30A continuous discharge rating that is a IMR. Learn and understand how ohms, volts, amps, & watts all play together.
I do not recommend 0.4 or lower ohm for a first timer. I say start with around 0.6-0.7 and see how you like it. You can also use AW IMR down to around 0.6ohm but I'd still recommend getting some 30A because they cannot safely handle lower resistances. Don't over discharge your batteries. Double check for shorts!! Coils expand slightly when heated so take that into account when building. You can check for shorts using an ohm meter or multimeter which you will want anyway most likely. Only charge your batteries using a decent charger meant for imrs. I'm sure their is more but I already failed at making this short. Happy New Years.

My sweet spot is around 0.3-0.4.
Won't even bother going lower it's too hot.
60A batts sound cool. Not so much needed for what we use though. At 0.29 ohm I'm using like 14.5 amps and Vaping at 60-61 watts. On a fully charged battery that is.

Right on. I'm running .6 right now, and it's plenty warm.
Still experimenting with different wick / coil style though.

I've tried micro coils, nano dragon coils, roller coasters, vertical builds, etc. the simple basic evenly spaced coil works fine for me. Others just make building even more tedious and I haven't found better results from them. Keep it simple. Just my 0.02. Then again it is fun to try new builds sometimes.

At 5 and 6 ohms that means he's got more metal surface area to contact eliquid; he could get dual coil performance with that.

Or he could use a lower gauge wire and build a micro coil and get the same surface area while keeping his ohms down to a level that actually produces power. A 6 ohm coil on my 6V max device is not going to do it for me.
