Check out G&E pharmacy on Whyte Ave (north side of avenue) a little east of 75th street. They are a vet and pet supply. I used to buy sterile sharps from them in heavier gauges for DIY body piercing! They carry large gauge sharps (14/16/18 gauge) and you should have no trouble getting plastic syringes to go with. Prices are excellent.
They wanted to ask me a few questions, but once they determined I wasn't "up to no good" they were happy to set me up with everything I needed. Just one caveat: these are SHARP-- intended for inoculating small and large animals. Use them with caution, or carefully blunt the tips with a file and be sure to clean away any filings before using. Who knows though? If you ask, they might even be able to fix you up with blunt-tipped needles!

edit: It's been a few years since I was there.... check the phonebook to make sure they're still in that location. I'd hate to have you drive there to discover they've moved!
