Like Chrissie, I have vaped wherever I once smoked.

However, I don't use 'Lookalikes' when out and about, as I don't want anyone to confuse my vaping with smoking.

Vaping on something that doesn't resemble a cigarette invites questions, and that's the best way of spreading the word.

Locally there is a seaside cafe, and several of the Vapourtrails.tv team go there for a coffee at times. So we are known and the management know we vape.

Last year we took some 'Lookalike' ecigs with us, and one team member openly vaped on it. Very soon the management came over and asked him to stop using it, as although he knew it wasnt a real cigarette, other people in the Cafe were complaining to him, that someone was smoking..

And I could see his point..

If it looks like a cigarette, it will be treated as though its a cigarette..

I am in the U.K. and new to the world of the e-cig, I would love to hear how it is going with using them in public places. How are pubs reacting due to the smoking ban, what are my rights here in the U.K. so far as Vaping is concerned? Asda? Malls? Pubs? where have you public vaped and how did it go?

I'm not very brave atm, so far only the office at uni (though made sure fellow phd'rs were ok with it), the train station and on the train etc usually in places where there are not too many peeps who could complain or notice it really :S

We went to the LEG arena a few weeks ago. I asked a member of staff if I could vape inside the foyer, as opposed to going outside to the smoking area. He said it would be fine but advised I might have members of the security staff approach me (which they didn't). Other than that, I go outside to vape, exactly as I would if I was smoking an analog because I don't want to draw attention to myself with people thinking I'm smoking where I shouldn't be.

Hello & good morning to all. I just joined ECF last night after UKV got hacked. I couldn't post in this section as I needed 5 posts. I soon done the 5 posts then discovered that it would take the rest of the evening for them to update on my a/c. Looks like it wont be back up till later today or tomorrow. Check.... http://ukvapers.com/index.php
I can understand why people don't take lookalike e-cigs in public places. TBH I just don't see the point in them (with the glowing end). Myself & the wife started vaping in Jan. She likes to take her ego to work or when going out. I make my own box mods so I always take one of those as never use anything else. We went out for a meal in a pub recently & I stealth vaped on it at the table (the wife isnt that brave & she was looking around to see if anyone noticed, OH the embarassment of being asked to leave lol). I picked a table with an obstructed view from the bar & as I mix my own juice I had mixed up some 100% PG for the occasion so there was less vapour. Nobody noticed apart from an elderly couple who seemed a little confused as they were sure that they had seen smoke but my hands were clearly on the table with no cig, could they have been mistaken? (Specsavers do 2 pairs for the price of 1) If I really wanted to vape in a place where they wouldn't tolerate it then I would mod a ventolin inhaler.

you could use it anywhere. nobody would dare object. If you used 100% PG then little vapour & plenty throat hit. It may not be an idea to fill it with VG. Could you imagine youself in clouds of vapour puffing an athsma inhaler? It would be sure to draw some attention.

I vape everywhere I go and have never been asked not to. I get some funny looks sometimes, as I guess at first people think you are smoking a tobacco cig, but as they can not smell anything, then unless they know about e cigs, I guess that they think it is some fake cig that I am using to quit. Local pubs and restaurants have never said a word. One person did once comment to me that they thought I was using an asthma inhaler!

Here's a new one on me, I was asked at Alton Towers not to vape because it looked too much like drug paraphenalia (sp) but this weekend at Drayton Manor, no problems at all, there were questions but those who took the time to listen were very interested, even going as far as to look up further details while we were in the queue for rides.

Iceland, Tesco, Asda, pub, (just for dares!!!) - no proprieters have said a word yet, only people asking "are they any good"? .

I have found that ex-smokers who gave up years ago with patches or cold turkey look down their noses on vaping. Saying things like "it's not going to make you give up because it's still like smoking". I just say that I didn't want to give up, I just didn't want to smoke cigs any more - it's an alternative. I think they are just upset because they had to do it the hard, painful way.
I find it best not to say anything unless I'm asked!

Gatwick airport, London City Airport, Victoria Station, Marylebone Station, trains, London busses, various London cafes, hospital corridor (nobody was around though), Isle of Man airport, Manx busses, Manx cinema, Manx pubs (in one I saw a guy vaping an imitation cigarette, so I got much bolder with the vapour).

The only time I vape with smokers is at the hospital - mainly for the company. They are all interested, most try it and those who do all want one. A non-smoker who runs a chain of casinos etc was VERY interested - if he can keep people inside vaping they will gamble more. He took notes about devices and juices.

Xx
