I too have this issue valsa. It was an accident on the gym. After that accident my back is not the same. Doctor told me that I may need surgery but for now I feel ok doing abdominals and dorsals every day
Status Update:
I am going in for surgery on my back on January 25th. The Dr is going to try and get away with only doing a couple of Laminectomies if he can to relieve the pressure. If he cannot relieve it that way then he will remove the effected disks and do a Fusion with rods and screws. If he has to do the disk removal and fusion, I will be in a back brace for 3+ months. Currently using strong meds and electrical stimulus (TENS/Inferential) for the pain and spasms.
Valsacar, I have had the Steroid Injections and did not get any relief.

Got a bit of bad news this morning. My Neurosurgeon's nurse called and said they have to reschedule my surgery because he has a scheduling conflict (also still waiting on workers comp to approve the surgery). My new surgery date is now Feb 11th. Grrr, it sucks being in pain and they make it last even longer. Oh well, back to the good pain med's.
Hang in there buddy and if worse comes to worse, heck just smoke some of the stuff we did back in the 70's

3 more weeks Zor, thats nothing, they will pass like water. Keep your mind strong and all will go more than well!
I'm with Steve on this. It might not take the pain away but you'll be so preoccupied with finding some chips in your cabinet, you'll forget all about the pain. 
I do feel your pain though...back problems are not fun at all. A pinched nerve just makes you want to shoot yourself. I hope you recover soon.
