I have some used:
- glass cobalt blue 30 mL bottles with:
- attached glass syringes with a plastic child proof top on them - came with the cobalt glass bottle (syringe attached to the child proof top),

from Halo brand e juice (Tribeca & Prime e juice).

How do I clean these up, to use as storage for any Wizard Lab nicotine I would buy? Should I use them?

Thanks!

PS: I've never done DIY, I am only doing this because of the FDA thing. I would only get nicotine 36 mg/ mL anyway.

I get my nic, flavorings, and supplies from WL. I have also used RTSVapes for flavorings WL doesn't have. I get PG and VG from the Essential Depot. One gallon each for $40 free shipping if you use the 15OFF code.

I'm not sure how long nicotine lasts frozen, but the shelf life is over a year at ambient temps.

WL will give you the option on PG/VG mix for your nic.

I by no means intend you follow my foot steps, but the 100 mg strength is the most cost effective. The the nic level you're most comfortable with. The ejuicemeup calculator will take care of everything, so you don't have to be a math whiz!

Wear nitrile, or latex gloves when you handle nic, and keep it away from your little one! You don't have to worry if you're allergic to latex or not, you'll know very quickly!

I added some EM to my order and bought today....hence my first launch into DIY. I'm still BS at the thought of vape prohibition. How long will frozen nic solution last?

PS...how much do you usually buy?

I usually buy 120mL and I break it into 2 60mL amber glass bottle.

About 4/5th the way through the bottle the nic starts to go bad but not enough for me to chuck it.

Before april comes I'll be buying 250mL of the 100mg/mL to cut down to 60 and bottle.

How long would a 120ml bottle normally last u? How do you know when nic goes bad?

Lastly...best place to buy amber glass bottles?

I've ordered from Sunburst Bottle and American Science and Surplus.
Sunburst has fantastic prices but they rip you on shipping.
American Science you have to pay close attention to the different bottles -- some aren't great for our uses (i.e. cork tops). But the good ones are there for a great price, and more normalized shipping costs.

You can tell when nic goes bad by the smell. It's hard to say how long a 120 ml bottle lasts. It partly depends on if you're a chain vaper, like me!
How long does a 30 ml bottle of juice last you now? Using 100 mg nic, blended at 18 mg, the amount of nic used is 5.4 ml. That will make a little over 22 - 30 ml bottles of juice.

All too often I see more experienced DIY'ers suggesting 100mg/mL nic because it is a dollar or 2 cheaper.
Imo Anyone new to DIY should, *at maximum*, use 60mg/mL nic. Even then, they should be wearing eye protection, gloves, and thoroughly clean up after.

The LD50 is around 60mg/mL. That means around half of a mL of 100mg/mL can kill you! I'm talking about horrible nicotine overdose, then heart palpitations, then death. This is the concentration that can kill you, let alone enough to make you sick.
If you have ever seen a 1mL syringe then you know- its not that much.

Be careful!

Good points here. I always buy 60mg/ml, just feel it's a little safer and the cost difference is negligible.

At the current prices I buy at and my usage it amounts to $.12 per week difference, or $6.24 per year.
Even in todays economy, I think I can afford that.:)

Serious side question ......... What's the backup plan?! The looming FDA threat. I'm assuming the Flavors and PG/VG will always be available, but the nicotine. I can't help but have this "stock up the bunker" fear when reading all the post about it.

Should I buy a mass amount of nic base? Can it be stored? How long does it last? Is buying overseas a option if it gets to that point?

I have kicked around the idea of DIY for some time and honestly Im moving on it because of this.....what are you guys planning to do?

I just feel a need to point out that, while the warning here is good, it's probably just a bit exaggerated. The LD50 for nicotine is around .5 to 1.0 mg/kg for adults, meaning that 50% of people weighing 150 pounds, for example, would die from ingesting 32 to 64mg of nicotine. So, yes, it's highly toxic, but two factors work in the favor of your typical DIYer:

First, there's the ingestion part. It'd be difficult to accidentally ingest that much nicotine. While nicotine does transfer relatively easily through skin, in a spill the amount of nicotine which would be absorbed into the skin would obviously be quite a bit less than the amount spilled.

The second factor in our favor is that, as vapers and ex-smokers, we have a higher tolerance for nicotine than most people. The LD50 is an average for all people, with or without resistance, which means that an LD50 amount of nicotine is not likely to kill people like us who come into contact with nicotine every day.

That said, people have died from skin contact with nicotine. It's rare, but it happens. What's much more likely is a really bad headache, possibly some vomiting, and you'll really wish you'd been more careful once you're functional again. But a half ml of 100mg/ml juice is highly unlikely to kill any of us, unless we're drinking it.

But yes, I totally agree it's something to be very careful with.

It just pisses me off when I see people recommending 100mg/mL nicotine to people who they know nothing about without telling them what precautions to take.

If you do this you are responsible for them.

Its akin to telling someone who has never driven before to drive a car without telling them to wear a seat belt and obey traffic laws.

They do not know how much the person weighs or their tolerance level and some of them don't so much as mention wearing gloves while recommending high nic. Its ludacris and it needs to be stopped.

Just mixed my first little batch of double RY(starting simple) and like the flavor but the vapor is ALOT less than my ready made bought stuff. I got all PG because that is what I'm used to. I am using this little dripping rebuildable for the first time but not convinced that's it. Whats the deal?
