Title says it all. In need of some NR wire and don't want to wait for shipping. I guess silver wire is preferred? I don't mind paying a bit more if I can get it at a hardware or craft store, but I don't know what I should be asking for. I'll be working with 28g and 30g Kanthal so am I correct to assume that my NR wire should be of similar size?

Suggestions/advice are greatly appreciated!

I'm no expert on the matter but I believe you're more likely to find NR wire at a jewelry or craft store than a hardware store. You should be able to go in and simply ask for jewelry wire (maybe beading wire?) but it'll probably be up to you to find out if its .999 silver. I'd guess wire size should be similar too, nothing too thick/thin to work with.

Of course you should probably wait for others to chime in since I've never used NR wire myself.

I've looked around and only thing I could find at craft stores was silver plated, not what I wanted. A bead store may have something, but in the end, Riogrande.com was where I got mine. It was about $18 after shipping for 30' of 30g .999 silver and 200 1mm x 1mm silver crimp beads. Shipping wasn't the fastest, took a little over a week, and they didn't give me any tracking, but hopefully I'm set for a while.

Edit: If you're gonna use crimp beads, the 1mm I.D. are perfect for 32awg kanthal and 30g silver, but if you use say, 28awg kanthal they will be too small I.D. so you have to get bigger ones. But IMHO, crimp beads are the way to go, no twisting anything, just thread the 2 wires in the bead, squash it with some needle nose plyers, and done!
