When the Tucson shooting happened, my immediate reaction was to e-mail my cousin (she and her kids were home. They live within walking distance of that supermarket and her office is across the street) and an Internet friend who was in a bakery in that mall. They weren't allowed to go home for hours.
Re charities, I worked at Bellevue for 3 years so I know they always need stuff. When you're thinning out your bookcases, the patient library will always be glad to take stuff off your hands.

Poeia, B works at a hospital. I will have to ask him about it. But I've never heard of that around here. Not even sure if they have a 'library'. We are pretty podunk here ya know!!!
