yep - you have no idea.....
I took a small glass of his wine and warmed it up in the microwave last night ( actually it was early this morning come to think of it )- sipped on it for a while and when I woke at 6 am the cold was gone!

Good tasting cold medicine

I think that is a bummer. I am more of a traditionalist. Even though I couldn't cut it (didn't try hard enough), that shouldn't have happened. They should have kept it for the highest level at least.

Agreed, that's the main reason that I haven't been on the radio in a while. Besides, the people on this thread are much nicer.:)

Are you familiar with QRZ lookup, Ralph ??? If not, I will PM you his address.

Thanks Jerry. Got it. :)

The other side of the coin is that I think it got harder to attract new folks into AR. Its too easy for the kids to use the internet to communicate long distances or get wow'd by an iPhone or a WII. The code thing was a big hurdle for the younger crowd, so they dumbed it down to keep the numbers up.

Yeah, but it's much easier for them to set up a computer and hook up an internet connection, than put up antennas and run coax cable to the radio. Ham Radio is a dying hobby, most of us are middle age or older. The only "kids" that I hear on the radio are children of hams, or ones who buy HT's and use the 2 meter repeaters. They tire of that quickly and disappear.

Yeah thats sad. The last time I was in the books was to design a long range antenna for WiFi... Never made it past theory. :(
