Good Morning Mary. :)

I think I remember that song from the one time it played on the air. It was second grade. The teacher had just fired up her old tube-type radio and we were all waiting for the glow of the tubes to start heating up the room, (the heat was out that day). Us kids just thought it was just a heater, and goaded her into proving otherwise. When she dialed in a station that song was on. Oh, the exciting memories of youth.

Morning Ralph. What a great memory!! It's wonderful how those childhood memories stay with us.

Sometimes these old songs just jump into my head. Such lovely music - a little different from the rap style today's kids hear so much.:(:(

Hey everyone. Been slammed today. And on top of that, wife called and said roof was leaking again...grrrrr. Had to redo most of my house due to a roof leak in 2007(combined with a washing machine hose failure while we were out of town for two weeks). Took a year to bounce back form that...so leaks are a sore spot for me lol.. See everyone later.

Hi.

One of these days I am going to learn to connect what I see when I look out the window with the weather I will encounter when I go outside. I saw it was gray and gloomy but did I bring an umbrella? Of course not. And unfortunately, unlike the Wicked Witch of the West, I don't melt in the rain.

So, you electronic types, one of these months I'm planning to trade in my American Airlines mileage for a Best buy gift card and buy a flat screen TV. I know all flat screen have mediocre sound, at best. I currently have some very nice little bookshelf speakers from my stereo. Is there a way to use old-fashioned twist-the-wires-around-the-posts speakers with a new-fangled put-the-yellow-and-red-plugs-in-the-corresponding-ports TV?

Hi Jane. It really depends on what exact type of audio out you have. Some newer connections will take bare wire - there's a spring loaded clamp that you just put the wire into - that's how my receiver is. But if it's a plug then you may need a 'pin connector' like these:

Atlona AT100081RB-1 Speaker Cable Pin Connectors (1 Pair) :: Banana Plugs & Speaker Connectors :: Adapters & Connectors :: Accessories :: HDWise.com

Where you put the bare wire in the back and then putting it together forms the connection for the plug. I'd tell the sales person at Best Buy what the situation is and see if they can direct you to what kind goes to the TV that you're buying. Usually there are about four ways to connect audio :facepalm:
