Goodnight Lis. Have a great night.
I guess I am out too. Jane, you have a great evening! It is always good to hear from you.

Let's see
Kent, that article is about fake studies on the social/psychological impact of being a red meat eater. If, however, you are talking about arteries and cholesterol, saturated fat is not as good for you as unsaturated and, when it comes to animal protein, fish is better than poultry which is better than red meat. And I had a hamburger today and I don't feel guilty.

He wanted to ban salt as an added ingredient in restaurants. It would be much better if they used other seasonings instead of most of it. It was a ridiculous idea -- meat isn't Kosher unless it's prepared with salt and disallowing soy sauce would close every Chinese restaurant alone, but he wasn't trying to ban the use of salt within the city.
You would still be allowed to buy a bag of potato chips (15 Lay's Classic Potato Chips = 7% of the salt you need for a day) to go with your cheese sandwich at lunch (34% of the USDA minimum for 2 slices of Kraft American Singles (ugh and 20%), 10% for 2 slices of Wonder Bread (double ugh) and 4% for a tablespoon of Hellman's). Wash it down with a glass of whole milk (4%) and you've reached 45% of your needed daily NaCl intake.
ETA: And they would have allowed salt shakers on the tables in restaurants. The idea was to get rid of most of the hidden salt in restaurant food (which doesn't have nutritional labels on it.) You could have added salt to your food if you wanted it.

Good morning y'all![]()

J/K .... Really J/K.
that french toast looks AMAZING!!!
There was a fresh excitement and thrill to it. It was "edgy" and "naughty". Now all of that is rather old hat and has faded away, so yes, Jan is right. It's a touch base thread now, instead of home base for most. Perhaps it is cause we have been here around two years. The thrill of the threads has worn off, and given way to the fall lineup.
Goodnight Jan. Sleep well dear.![]()
