I got a TV about three years ago off Ebay and found out it was from a place that sold stuff for Best buy. It's 32 inch and it is giving us trouble already.
It is going in the bedroom where it won't get used much so hopefully it hangs in for longer.

Staples I use to buy ink from but know I get that off the internet---better deal. :)

Staples used to be a go-to place for an IT guy. Keyboards, mice, drives, cables, etc. For awhile there they had absolutely no WIRED keyboards and mice. Now those are back, but they don't have any internal or external CD/DVD drives (in any stores). Losers! I have to go to Walmart to get basic supplies, and even that is hit or miss.

At least you have that pool. :) That will help in warmer weather.

Our main TV just took a dump. A 37" LCD Insignia from Best Buy. It's 13 months old, just out of warranty. I don't think I will be replacing that for a very long time. I will never buy that brand again, it's Best Buy's house brand.

ETA: Point being that I cant really afford to replace it.... and.... Insignia sucks.

Point taken. I had a Magnovox projection TV, used to be good brand...died in 4 years. Am using a Hitachi LCD now...so far so good after 4 years.

Hi R, F, j! :)

Hiya JaG! Yep, that TV turned out to be a lemon, and a lemon model. Lots of folks with the same problem. I may drive by Best Buy one of these midnights and shove that TV out the van by their front door.

That's good jag but still with what they cost these days, they should last a whole lot longer.
Heck older TV's hung in there forever!!

The tube TVs were a different technology and they did last longer. It's usually some chip that goes bad first. :glare:

If you do, wipe your fingerprints off it! :D

You have to take it to a special designated place to get rid of it. :(

They are starting to think about making companies take things back and dispose of them since they are making so many things disposable!!! And they will make it so companies can't ship them overseas to get rid of them!

What designated place? My landfill woudn't even take it...no place to recycle. :?:

The tube types had all sorts of poisons in them. I suspect the LCD & LED panels are just as bad. I dont think I got the extended warranty, I guess I better figure that out.

What happened to Fudgey? One post and she was gone.... Whats exciting on TV tonight Jan?

House and she is probably watching it!

Garbage pickup here will not take them.

I couldn't PAY Sears to carry away the old one. They told me they had nowhere to throw it, but that was a few years ago.

Ralph, I GAVE my old one to a TV repair shop. They get to fix it and resale and I had them pick it up for free. It was huge.

So do we. Several places that just do computers and electronics, like TV's. One place will even wipe your hard drive and give you a certificate of destruction. I dont trust that though. When I get rid of a customer's old computers I pull the drives out, put on some goggles, and vent some frustration with a big :censored:ing hammer! :)

Now that has to be fun and a way to get rid of frustration, and a little extra exercise to boot.
