I've been building .16-.19 ohm coils, vaping at 14-15W, ever since I started temp control vaping. I've heard that others get a more consistent and satisfying vape with a .12 ohm coil.

I'm curious, what's everyone building and vaping at?
I'm interested in:

Resistance (single v. dual)
Diameter of coil
Watts
Temperature

Also, how often do your coils/wick develop a gunky and or burnt build up?

Using my SX-M, I will answer with the following:

Res: I try to be in the .06 to .08 range
Dia: Always 3mm with 5 or 6 wraps of Ni200 28 gauge, or twisted 30 (single spaced coil)
Watts (Joules): In the 25 range
Temp: 420-450F

I can get a good week or two out of that setup, and I vape pretty heavy. I don't usually use any real dark or sweet juices though. I do the same build in either my Lemo Drop, or STM.

I may have to try building that low. Out of curiosity, have you tried building in the .11-.19 range?

Using three different DNA40 clones I commonly build .10-.11 with ni200 (28ga for single coils, 30ga for dual coils) and between .25-.40 with titanium grade 1 (28ga). The size of the coils, not resistance, is what determines my builds.

What do you have your watts set to? I've been interested in TI1, but can't justify spending that much cash on wire.

I had a few at first that were around .10 to .12 and they worked fine. But with my Ni200 builds, and the smaller space on the Drop and STM deck, I try to stay in the 5 to 6 wrap area. So my go-to is a spaced 5-6 wrap, 3mm/3.5mm, with either 28 or twisted 30 (just because I bought it and need to use it). The twisted 30 is about like using 27/28 gauge. Twisting does seem to make it a little easier to work with also, as 30 is super thin. Flavor is a little better as well.

When I find a build that works for me, I tend to stick with it. Not much for fancy, I just want it to work the way I like it. For regular watt builds, I always do a dual 24 gauge NiChrome80 setup, 2.5mm, 7 wraps. Always puts me at .20.

Resistance: .10 - .13 single
Diameter: 2.5 to 3.0 depending on the atty
Watts: Depends on my mood and/or juice, anywhere from 14 - 25w
Temp: 420 - 440

I try to stay at .10 or slightly higher, I use 28ga NI200 and it's pretty easy to get there with it. I have tried higher and couldn't tell any difference, just takes more wire.

Coil gunking up has more to do with the juice than anything as long as it's wicking properly. With some juices I've had to clean after a few ml some I can go weeks or more without touching it.

Generally, around 30w on Subtank Minis, 35w on my Aqua v2 and Goblin. 30-35w on my Fogger v4 and v5 as well.

Titanium is great, and not so much more expensive than ni200 or Kanthal if you buy from the right place (mine is from zivipf).

I've been told that some devices really like super-low resistances. I have yet to try...

I usually build at 0.12Ω on a 3mm mandrel, 9 wraps 28g Ni200, single coil. Have the wattage at 50W (although it rarely reaches that) and 450ºF.

@GrandSam I've been looking at the TiG1 wire on Unkamensupplies, it seems to be pretty good prices. 40ft of 28g for like $9.

I'm still fine-tuning, but for my RTAS (Using IPV4/Yihi):

Dual coil 30awg Ni200 (Temco) -- ~2mm ID -- 11 to 12 wraps per coil
.09 - .10 Ohms
30-35 Joules
420-435 Farenheit

I may switch to 2.5mm so I can do less wraps and fit the coils in easier without messing up the spacing, but I like using the Coiling Gizmo to make my coils because it makes close, even spacing very easy...

@Cullin Kin Thanks for that! All I've found so far is 26g, 15feet for around $15. Seems ridiculous if you ask me.

Yeah, especially that Spidersilk. Unkamen has some of the best priced I've seen for gauges that we would use.

ATM.. SC, 3mm, 28g, 7 wrap, .10 ohm, ni200, 430 degrees F, 23-25 watts using Kangxin Mini VF. I have too bump up the temp and stuff the cotton in the coil tighter using my VS rDNA40 to get the same vape for some reason.

I have to change my cotton about once a day, my juice is dark but tasty! I like to put a fresh coil every 3-4 days.
