Hi everyone,
I have a couple Bella carto tanks and they take the short size... I've been buying SR Boge 510 single coil laser drilled which have been working well. My question is what benefit if any would there be with the laser slotted ones? Are they better for thicker/darker juices? The way the slot is cut going up/down, it seems like the juice would never cover the whole slot unless the tank is full.

Thank you!

As with anything in vaping, one size does not fit all.

If you are looking to produce the best quality vapor with a carto tank and e-juice then you must match the two well for best results. Too little open area and the carto will burn. To much open area and it will flood. All of this depends on individual differences between carto brand filler and juice viscosity, too. Slotting, drilling, and punching works when it provides the correct surface area between carto filler and juice.

Whether this is done for you at the carto factory or you do it yourself doesn't matter.

I use a very thick DIY 95% VG juice. This is an actual 95% VG by volume and much thicker than make-believe 100% VG juices sold all over the place. This juice requires four good-sized holes punched into a Smoktech single coil XL carto.

I give high recommendation to the Siam Mods V2 carto punch available from Phiniac. Watch the video.

I am not sure if you are talking about the ones slotted like to one below-or another. I have just tried one of the 1.5ohm cartos slotted like the one below from FASTTECH and actually if is working very well with the juice I am vaping which is 80%VG. With my high VG liquid I usually punch 2 extra holes on my 2 hole pre-punched carto's for it to absorb properly.

I was actually asking about this one... this pic is of the XL style but the shorter ones look the same. Also i didn't really know why some people use flanged cartos? Is it just for leaking issues?

Flanged cartos are meant to be used with tanks that have a recessed bottom. I don't think there are that many out there; the only ones I have that work with flanged cartos are some old 808 tanks that I used to use.

Smoktech invented the flanged carto to fit some of their tanks. As mentioned the flange fits into a depression on the lower cap of these Smoktech tanks and later model locking tanks. Flanged cartos help to prevent tanks from slipping down along the carto and leaking. Flanged cartos can be used with most other tanks as well. A tight fitting big belly drip tip can help to prevent a tank from slipping up along the carto.

Actually, I have found that a well designed carto tank like IBTanked (among many others) will offer O-rings that fit tight enough to prevent tank slippage along the carto without using a flange.

I prefer unflanged Smoktech cartos. These fit my Sigelei Zmax with much less gap than with flanged cartos.
