Which Clearomizer?

I like and use EVODs, T3 Minis, Protank Minis, and ProTanks.
ANY of them CAN leak - but I've found the leaking can be diagnosed and prevented or at least very much minimized.
The LEAST likely to need anything fiddled with is probably the EVOD or ProTank Mini.
What kind of battery, and is spending a little extra not a big deal? If so - I'd vote ProTank Mini (or Mini-2. Not a huge difference so maybe you can find a bargain on a version 1).

My experience with bottom feeders so far (evod, protank I&II, Tatroe) is that they will all leak if the juice gets too low. If you can keep them over 1/3 full, it shouldn't be an issue.

See, this is something that's I've read about here on the forums and I've vaped my evods and mini protanks to where they're nearly dry and haven't had any leaking problems. /shrug

I'm not as handy with words as Bad, but here is my review of the clearos mentioned. Sorry for the length.

There is no wrong or right answer here, as Bad suggested, every one has their favorites and I suppose all we can do is post why we like / dislike certain clearos and let the OP make their own mind up.


• 1. Vision Vivi Nova – Good build quality, few dry hits, easy to use top fill design and great flavor and vapor production. Easy to rebuild heads if you are so inclined. Vivis come in plastic, metal and pyrex so there is one to fit your needs. Only downside is the tilt and swirl you have to do to ensure proper wicking. No leaking issues (except in the Texas heat) and a high juice capacity made this my go to clearo. You might have to fiddle with it a little, but it’s easy to work with and gives an excellent vape.

• 2. Kanger EVOD – Good build quality with no mess, fill, screw in and vape. No dry hits, excellent flavor, superior vapor production to every other clearo I have used. Replacement heads are cheap (less than $1 each) and the clearo comes in various colors to match your battery. If I had to pick one clearo to recommend, it would be this one – although it is plastic so don’t vape known tank cracker juices in it.


• 3. Kanger Protank 1 – Pyrex is a great addition as you can use tank crackers with no worries. Somewhat airy draw and you have to add or remove flavor wicks to avoid gurgling / dry hits depending on juice used. Suspect build quality of the base in particular as some have reported it breaking off. Unable to change the drip tip as it’s fixed. An OK clearo, but you have to fiddle with it straight out of the box to get the vape you want. Mine sits on a shelf gathering dust. I have not used the PT2.

• 4. Iclear30 – I couldn’t get this beast to wick properly, although it was probably user error as I was a little green when I tried it. Found the drip tip nice to use as it rotates to suit. Sucks juice like nothing else I have tried – 1ml just to wet all those wicks. Could not get consistent performance – sometimes a really good vape, sometimes the worst. I might have to revisit this clearo (I’d have to buy another first though)

After 1 year on ECF and from my own experience, I believe the choice of clearomizers is almost as personal as juice flavors. Many like bottom coils, but I think they are too cool and airy. I prefer top coils for warmer and stiffer draw. For a larger tank I use the Kanger T2. For a smaller tank the Kanger T4. I have had my best luck with stuff from Kanger. I would agree that you may want to try a couple of different varieties to find what's best for you.

I agree with Grimwald, it really is personal preference, I really like the Kanger T2 (long wick) it has been outstanding for me, very long coil life vaping 50/50, no leaks, no gurgling, no dry hits. It is a top coil so you do get a warmer vape.

My favorite bottom coil clearomizer is the Vapeonly 3.5 BCC, the draw is a little stiffer than the other bottom coils I have tried....such as the Kanger MT3 and Evod.

I have used the Viva Nova without many problems, but I just prefer the T2.

I've been using Kanger T3's and the Protank 2 and like them both.....and 2 Protank 2 Mini's are on their way!!
One thing I found re: leaking....DON'T OVER-TIGHTEN!! If you crank down on them, the o-rings compress/distort, and will likely cause a leak...Finger-snug should suffice!!
Keep the seals clean!!
Heavier/thicker juices (especially 100% VG base) tend to wick slower and CAN result in "dry hits".....Removing ONE of the flavor wicks can help this, but KEEP ONE IN...or you likely WILL ultimately get a leak....
As others have said.....Tanks/clearos are a personal thing...like a "favorite" juice....To each his own....

I love my IClear30s and 16s, easy to fill, easy to clean, easy to replace wicks, great vape production and flavor, never had any leaks that weren't my fault (not getting it screwed back together well), and the swivel tip is awesome. I also have a bottom feed (I don't remember the brand) that I used to love too, but now it leaks like a sieve, so it never gets used anymore.

-edit- The bottom feed is a Kanger T3 and I have found out how to hopefuly fix the problem, if so, YAY!!!

Innokin iClear 30 - dual coil with 16 wicks, not had ANY problem with these. Easy top fill. Rotatable "knucklehead" tip a plus. Nice flavor and vapor production. If this was pyrex it would be perfect.

+1 for the iClear 30's for the exact same reasons, couldn't have said it better myself.

I really do like my iClear30 and a local B&M has some iClear16s coming for me at near online pricing. The i30 though is a juice hog and the draw is tight. Simply switch to the i16 coil and see how that does. Ive got those on the way too.

I really like the guy at the shop because he has no problem talking about his PG/VG blend ratio. Most of the local shops act like its a secret and don't understand its important for the customer to know depending on your tank system specs or simply what ratio you prefer.

I am currently using the iClear 16 and the Kanger T3S. Both work great until the coil is coming to the end of it's life.

I would stay away from the protank I . I have had 3 and all over time developed leaks around where the metal seals to the glass. All are either top or bottom coil and thus have cooler/ hotter vape. The top coil is slightly higher maint. and can burn if you don't constantly move it around to keep the wicks wet. My fav are ProtankII and g50 (5mils of juice a fill)

I only use bottom coil tanks and like warm vapes with some juice and cool vapes with other juice. My warm vape tank is an Ismoka/Vapeonly BCC Mega which I have not had any issues with leaking. The cool vape is provided by Evod knockoffs from fasttech I actually like them better cause they only have two air holes so it tightens the draw up.

One thing to keep in mind is the cost of replacement coils for whatever kind you get. And, if you're the least bit a mechanical/tinkerer type of person, get one that you can rebuild. There are some good utube videos on how to do it, and lot's of people here more that willing to answer any questions. And of course, give LOT'S of advice, and opinions.

I've tried a lot of stuff and now stick with Evods. As someone said above, watch your torques!! Coil to head... tight. Tank to head... not so tight. Head to battery...barely tight at all or you'll get a small leak into your battery and spend too much time wiping the terminal. And refill at 1/3rd left. Blow out the head if it gurgles occasionally, into a kleenex, then you can continue vaping a while until you get chance to refill. Bigger tank bcc's are OK but the juice doesn't stay fresh and clear so why bother? Better to refill the smaller Evod tanks more often.
1 'flavor' wick is best for 70/30 thro 100/0 , thats VG/PG... don't do squat for flavor but help slow down the juice flow so it only wicks enough for a 'normal' vape rate and not so much as to totally flood the coil area. Thinner juices need the stock 2 flavor wicks.
Best left upside down when not in use (overnight etc)... but not upside down in shirt pockets! (a little juice/condensation will drip down)
