Which one to pick?

I have been using a smokeless image volt which is great! But I have been gaining some interest in the eGo type ecigs. I was wondering which ones would be easier to use and provide good vape. Cleaning cartomizers that are prefilled is getting annoying.

I've seen the ego Type b and there is also the Type C, more expensive. In terms of atomizers, how long do they last, how do you know they are done? I never had a 3 piece set and only used the 2 piece. Looking for some easy maintainence recommendations.

If you found this forum, you'll probably find the atty/carto forum easily. It will have stickies on maintenance.

You can also keep supporting SI by getting the X2, which I find nicer than the egos. They have empty cartos for it. It's an 808 auto and w/adapter you can use the many atties out there.

It seems alot of folks only use attys for testing juices, and carto/cart-tanks or such for everyday.

If it were me I simply would not use a 3 piece unit unless it was a tank unit and even then there is some fiddling to find what you are comfortable with. My experience with 3 piece unit using an atomizer and cartridge as opposed to a cartomizer is that they are messier and much more time consuming even with mods because you have to drip much more often than you would if you just got the cartomizer. Granted though that i use cartomizers that are a large 2 ml size and i am fairly new to everything ymmv I would like to ask why you are cleaning the cartomizers though? Ive never found that necessary at all I just have one for each flavor I use and switch them out as I want. As it stands ive been getting a month of solid use off of each one so never felt the need to clean them. As far as just using the atomizers with a cartridge when i first started out that was what i used also and the frequency of cleaning is highly dependent upon how heavy you vape your tolerance for drag and how well you fill the cartridges-if your sloppy and flood it you have to blow it out. Personally my cleaning consisted of blowing them out soaking them in pga about every week and allowing them to dry. I love my ego I have a 900 battery and it lasts me a long time if I fill the cartomizer in the morning and just vape one I can easily get almost a full day vaping off of it. Depending though on how much money your willing to drop you have a ton of options out there to pick from.

The eGo-C is actually less money over the long run because only the atomizer head (about $5) is replaced not the whole cone assembly (usually $12-13). I really like the eGo-C.

If you want to stick with Smokeless Image, as r77r7r noted above, they now have eGo batteries with 808 threads (Volt X2) as well as eGo Stardusts for X2s (X2 Clearomizers). You might also want to check out the Smokeless Image subforum for other options.

Thanks I will try to keep it simple as possible. I'll look at the Volt x2 batteries and cartomizers. I feel like a 3 piece set is more work. I clean out my cartomizers because I always have different flavors and some were pre filled. I didn't find my top vaping flavor yet so I order a different one from a different site each time.

Quick summary of the eGo line: The original eGo used a cartridge inside the cone. I never used one of those.

The eGo-T (eGo Tank system) came out consisting of a battery, and atomizer/cone and a tank/mouthpiece. You'd fill the tank, and it'd wick onto the atomizer, and the vapor would come out the mouthpiece along the side of the tank. (That cools the vapor a little.) The "Type A" tanks hold about 1.2ml of e/juice.

The "eGo-B" or eGo-T, type B, came out with a cylindrical atomizer and a larger tank/mouthpiece that held about 2ml of e/juice.

I used a type B for seven or eight months and loved it. I'd fill the tank in the morning and be good until dinnertime.
You can get them with either 650mAh or larger 1000mAh batteries. For me, the smaller batteries are more convenient when I'm out of the house, and the bigger ones are good for about 24 hrs straight when I'm telecommuting from home.

I developed an allergic reaction to the pure PG base unflavored mix I was using, so had to go to a PG/VG mix.
After six months on one atomizer using unflavored PG, my atomizer died after a month of PG/VG mix.

So I bought an eGo-C. The "C" version differs only in the atomizer. Instead of a single unit atty, it consists of a cone with a screw-on base, holding a modular heating unit. So instead of replacing the whole atomizer, you only need to replace the heating module.

The eGo-C originally came out with "A" size tanks, but there is now a "B" tank version. The cones are different between the "A" and "B" for the larger tank, and supposedly the atty modules are different in how they wick from the larger tanks.

The "C" is supposed to have an improved battery, but I use both my "T" and "C" batteries without an issue.

I'm going to have to order the "B" upgrade for the eGo-C, because a single "A" tank doesn't last me through a long day at the office. (I carry a spare tank, but I like not having to change tanks during the day.)


My only issue with either the "A" or "B" tanks is that if you drop them, the mouthpiece insert pops out and seems to hyperspace jump into another dimension.

Thanks for that information. Seems like the C version would be less to maintain. I'll have to research some more and figure out where I could get a deal on one if I wanted to order it. But for the time being I am also interested in the Volt X2 clearos and their new batteries too.

Just an FYI, regarding the X2's from SI, they aren't recommended to use if vaping with dual coil or LR cartos from what i understand. That's the main reason i'm looking at the e-Go/KGO line, i want to try out LR cartos and tanks, etc. I've got similar questions as the OP, but i'm leaning towards a KGO starter kit. Problem is, if the carto/tank holds more juice, i'll vape more juice, and want bigger tanks/cartos, then need more juice, etc. Bye-Bye cost savings LOL

Well if I went with the SI clearos then I would probably just be buying those in replacement. But there are just too many options to choose from. And they are not all cheap where I can go and get ones to try out. Some people didn't have good experience with tank systems. So from what they are saying about the C system is only the atomizer heat module would be replaced. The carto type A or B is plastic and I don't think you would need to replace that, just refill.
