Hi Everyone,

My girlfriend and I are ready to put the deadly, energy draining cigarettes down and try the electronic ones. We were about to make a decision between Blu and South Beach. We found out that Blu has changed their design in order to stop people from being able to refill with a third party's e-liquid.

Anyone here use hardware from South Beach and then do your own cartridge refills with juice from like Johnson's Creek or another seemingly reputable supplier?
While we're still interested in South Beach for our hardware, who are some of the other top companies to consider, that you've actually had experience with? There seems to be so many with mixed reviews, that it's difficult to determine who to try.

Thanks for any help,

William

between here and there
Hello,
Isn't south beach one that has 'automatic' shipping ever xx days, months? I personally would run, do not walk to the nearest exit.....You will end up spending way too much $ to accomplish the same thing as we do here at ecf.....And if you cannot get a ecigs whos' batteries don't last at least 8 hours for heavy smokers, and have a cartomizer that you only re-fill maybe once a day,...well all I can say to you is good luck......
look in the stickies(at top of this page) loads of great information.
:)

Joye 510 and Joye eGo are good pv's as well as KR808D.
look at Liberty-flights.com
and
vapor4life.com

run from both blu and south beach.... you would thank us later for it. play it safe and listen to SAS, get a riva (which is the same as ego, functionality wise) from liberty flights. $30 with the 20% button and your battery will last much much longer than the typical "e-cig" oh and...the threading is 510 which means youll be able to modify it to your liking since you never "get-it-right-the-first-time-around" good luck...and remember...listen to SAS :)

yep. what she said! You do not want to get caught up in any auto refills.

Although, as a new vaper, the Blu and so Bch companies look good... they may not be the best for you in the long run. They do have "simple" and "cig-like" pieces.. but the battery life and juice volume is WEENIE! You will (most likely) move on to something else.

For beginners I often suggest either the 510 unit, or the 808 unit. They both have the look and feel of a real cig, and can be compatible with many different things (if/when) you decide to upgrade.

The 510 can come equipped as a 3 piece (similar to the old blu) or you can get the cartomisers (what blu is using now.. and YES you CAN refill those, it's just a different type. Instead of the "cart" and the "atomizer" being separated pieces.. they combined them into one and offer the "cartomizer") Make sense?
The 808 is only offered as the 2 piece unit (cartomizers.. you can purchase prefilled, OR fill your own)

Good place to buy 510 is at LiberyFlights or Cignot (both excellant vendors!!)
and V4L offers a nice variety on the 808. Get on their mailing list, they offer great discounts.

HTH! PM any questions!

Yes, I have to concur with S&S. Most vendors are simply re-branding equipment based common specs. The most important aspect is the core model you order (306, 510, Ego, etc). The rebranding makes it confusing because the exact same ecig can have a dozen different names, depending on the vendor.

Most people start out with the smaller models (306 & 510) because they look almost identical to an analog cig. After a few weeks / months you get tired of constantly refilling the cartridge and recharging the batteries and opt for a larger cigar sized device like an Ego. Another benefit to an Ego with the larger type A or B cartridges is the foam in those carts doesn't compact as quickly. I was constantly adjusting and replacing the 510 filler material in those carts.

I haven't heard about vendors trying to sabotage refilling methods. Are you sure it wasn't a cartomizer vs a cartridge system? You see, there are either 2 piece or 3 piece ecigs. The 2 piece systems use a combination atomizer / cartridge device called a cartomizer. You can still refill a cartomizer, but it's a little harder than a standard 3 piece setup where the sponge material in the cartridge is readily exposed.

the new blu carts ARE refillable.. it's just they switched from atty + cart to carto

The original blu consisted of a 306 (compatible) atomizer and a teeny cart with stuffing to fill with liquid.

The new blu consists of a cartomizer, prefilled (which you can refill easily!) So if you are gung-ho on blu.. I say go for it, and visit the how-to section, learn how to refill and fill cartomizers. They will actually last you longer (vaping time) than the previous system.

(I do miss those cheap blu attys tho.. :(

OH! doh

Another similar system is the Volcano! Much better company (CS wise) and although they make their own (so the pieces will be slightly bigger if you ever upgrade) it's good stuff, plus they offer their own upgrade parts.

Volcano Fine Electronic Cigarette...home of the best eCig

Same exact system as the blu... no auto refill programs.. and their juice is tasty too!

I'll put in a second (or third, or more) nod for Vapor 4 Life! :D I've bought a couple of their 808D-1 batteries, pre-filled catomizers, and liquids from them. Always top notch, fast shipping, and awesome customer service. They have several 808D-1 starter kits for just about every price range.

Good luck and hope both of you are vaping soon!

I have two different types of kits that are extremely newbie friendly and have excellent instructions.

For a smaller e-cigarette that looks similar to a regular cigarette I have a Halo G6 from halocigs.com which is a KR808D-1. You can order pre-filled cartomizers and you can re-fill them quite a few times. The instructions are great too...they tell you everything you need to know to be successful.

If you want a larger kit that has more power and is easy to use and newbie friendly you could try the Ramiya R2-750 from analogalternative.com which also has great instructions and is a very high quality eGo type kit with 510 connections. This is a tank kit but it is a bit different from other tanks due to a different kind of cartridge. It doesn't leak.

The Halo G6 kit is normally 54.95 but if you use the code LABORDAZE until the 8th you get 15% off the kit and juice orders. Malibu Menthol is an incredible e-liquid...and made in America.

The Ramiya R2-750 comes in two kit sizes...the mini kit and the large kit. The mini kit is $36.95 and the large kit is 64.95 and comes with two complete e-cigarettes.

Currently I am using both of these kits. I love them both because they are really high quality, work great, don't leak and are very user friendly and not terribly messy.
