Which vivi nova mini tank is the knock-off? Or are these all real?

Ok.. Here goes..

I've been fumbling with this the past few months. I really like the vivi nova mini tanks.. If that's even the real name of them.

img1611k.jpg

Ok so, the one on the left is the real one. It was bought from the most reputable ecig shop in Dallas. I saw the packaging, and everything looks legit. I did some research and found this to be the real one.

The black one in the middle was the first one I bought. It was bought from a smaller ecig shop that isn't as popular. Well, it was a great tank but stopped getting power for no reason.. It says "vivi mini" on it, I believe.

Then I was told it was a knock off. I was ....... Well a guy at work brought me the one on the right. It says "Mini Nova" on it. This has been the BEST tank.. By far. No leaks, solid hit, full hit, and good quality. Amazing tank. It looks legit.

Well, I went to get a wick for it today. At the main vape store.. They said they don't have wicks for it, and that it is a knock off. The twist part on the bulb of the wick is a lot bigger. The wicks on the "knock-off" one were MUCH thicker. I liked them, and they lasted a really long time. Well, I just charged another tank to the game and bought the "real" tank.

I don't much like it. Don't get me wrong, it will work, but its not near as good as the one on the right, the "mini nova" .. I really love the mini nova tank. It is tightly sealed, shiny, and just amazing.

I am really hoping that the "Mini Nova" tank is legit, and just a newer version that maybe the vape store doesn't know about. It is such a solid tank that, if this IS a knock-off, then they did a much better job.

The original vivi isnt as shiny, looks cheap, and feels cheap. Maybe I'm just spoiled but.. I'm really hoping it is real, and was hoping someone could enlighten me on what has turned out to be a real frustration. I thought I FINALLY found my sweet spot, only to be shut-down at the vape store today.

The wick that came with the Mini Nova was unlike anything I had ever seen. Instead of three threads on each side, and had 6, and they were VERY thick. It would make a pop sound when I was hitting it, that always let me know it was working well.

The main reason that I am so confused is that a person told me they are all legit and that vivi nova makes multiple versions of the tank. This seamed plausible.

*sigh*

plz help

Like Tebo said.
VISION makes the Original VIVI Nova tanks
There Are 4 Versions - a large and Small V1 and a large and small V2.5(v2)
Air Holes were moved and wick design changed.
Knock-offs are not necessarily a bad thing. Some are cheap but others are simply less expensive and work well.
You don't mention any resistances on any of the tanks. That may be part of why you don't like some and like others.
Pop/crackle usually means a LR coil, 1.8ohm or so. while another may have a 2.8ohm and deliver a cooler, less inviting vape.

Also Tanks do NOT get no power for no reason. Either the center pin is pushed up, the coil is loose or the coil has broken. All are correctable.

That^^^. (Pointing at Tebo. Crxess posted while I was typing LOL.) But the bottom line is, does it really matter if it is the real vivi nova? If you are happy with it, use it! Go back to the shop where you bought it and get new heads. If you can't get them there, post a pick of the head and folks can help you find the right head for the knock off.

The one she really likes is the one her friend gave her to try. Yes, as Tidegirl said, post pictures of the head and someone will be able to point you in the right direction. You might want to ask your friend where they got that clearo. Heads should be sold at the same place.

So far all of the knockoff Vivi's I have seen were made by Smoktech and the best way to distinguish the difference was by looking at the heads.

In this picture the one on the left with the flat top is the Vision brand and the one on the right with the pointy top is the Smok brand.

ViviNovaHeadCompare.jpg

Also ALL of the real Mini Vivi Nova's I have seen say "Vivi Nova" on the tank, not "Mini Nova". Although I guess it is possible that they changed the wording a bit in recent production runs.

Knockoffs can and will copy the packaging as well as the design so sometimes it can be really difficult to spot knockoffs.

Edit: Once more thing. The Real Vivi heads have 3 different wick configs based on the resistance of the replacement head that you get. The 2.8 Ohm has 1 thick wick on each side, the 2.4 Ohm has 4 really thin wicks on each side, and I THINK the 1.8 Ohm has 2 wicks on each side. I might be off on which is which since I am doing this from memory.

I found this post to be the most helpful. Thanks for that.

Can someone possibly direct me to the appropriate site to find the wick on the right? That is what I need. That is what the other two tanks use.

And by the way, the real vivi nova mini tank that I have, does not say "vivi nova" or anything on it. It just has the ML meters.

You are welcome.

This place has the ones you are looking for, for $1.99

You should be able to find other vendors by searching for something like "Smok vivi nova heads".

I'm glad someone was able to help you with where to find the heads you're looking for. As to the Vivi mini, you are correct. Just the ml lines. I had to go look.

Actually that picture is not quite true.
While the Smok head does have the spike at the top so does the Vision CE4+ head. The real difference is the positive post at the base of the head. You can even mount the CE4+ head on your Smok nini nova, it just won't make contact.

Yes some of the copies are OK, but the poor ones give the real Novas a bad name which you often see
in threads saying how bad Novas are. I also noticed the Smoktech types seem to have less threads
on the battery connecter and often don't work with Ego batteries (which are copies admittedly).

Which is why I think the black one quit working. I remember one time at the vape store it quit working and they hooked it up to a knock off battery and it worked.

While that is true, we are talking about Vivi Nova's and the Vision Nova heads do not have the point while the Smok version does. So when comparing Vivi to Vivi that is the easiest way to tell the difference. You are correct though in that would not hold true if comparing CE4's.
