So I wanted to dismantle the 510 pin out to flush the 510 connection. It was having some side flavour from past juices. After removing the 510 pin, I ran water down both sides (inside and outside). By doing so, the white ring insulator came off and went down the drain :( Is the mod still safe to fire? I tried reassembling back without that white ring and it seems to still work. Annoying thing is that the side flavour is still there!

If you're lucky the insulator is still in the U trap.
My experience is that leftover flavors are usually in the bottles o-ring, try giving it a soak in isopropyl.

I think the insulator is long gone. Many have went into the toilet since then :S

Dont think its the bottle O-ring. I used a new bottle and tube :(

If it was only the thin white ring that you lost it is actually the gasket to prevent e-liquid from seeping in between the silicone insulator and 510 fitting. If you start to see some "tears" of e-liquid in the back corners of your battery/ bottle compartment loosen the screw for the black delrin insert to discover why your REO is "crying"

For flavor creep issue, are you using an RM2? If so it may need a good soak in soma Russian water (Vodka) or if your feeling to continue your cleaning spree see this thread.

At first I thought it was the RM2 so I dismantled the base gave it a thorough cleaning but still to no avail. Then I switched toppers and used the origen. Side flavor was still there. Changed bottle and was still there, hence I knew it was the 510. Anyway I found out that the silicone gasket is removable. Gave it a good wash and seem a that the side flavor is a lot less now. Gave 510 a good cleaning as well. Noticed there's some glue like substance keeping the brass cup to the mod? I think I don't wanna touch that right? Lol.

Anyway the original silicone gasket I saw from t rebuild kit is semi transparent but my current one is a horrible dark brownish color which one wash off. Not much side smell left though. Should I change it?

That being said, yeah seems to work fine without the white ring. Lol. I learnt a new thing abt my REO today, cleaning the gasket. And to think it was being shelved for abit because I couldn't get rid of the side flavor.
