Here's mine:
Dear Congressman Roe,
I recently heard about the FDA's confiscation of ecigarette products imported by various stores and individuals. As far as I know, they are allowed to confiscate certain brands until their case with Judge Leon has been appealed, however, they are holding any shipment they can get their hands on.
Regardless of anyone's feelings about these products, this is an overstepping of authority on the FDA's part. I understand the need to stop untested products from entering the country, but they have tested them, showing low to no harm. The seizures seem more about revenge over the court's ruling than the public's safety.
Spending our tax dollars on such petty grievances is ridiculous, not only because of the waste, but also the lives that could be saved. Since most smoking cessation products are so different from the act of smoking, they do not work for many people. Smoking is more than just getting nicotine for many, so a device that satisfies the oral fixation (without destroying teeth and gums like nicorette) is what it will take to get many people to quit, my family included.
Please find some way to tell the FDA that this is unacceptable. I'm disappointed with them more often than not anymore, and this seems to be about vested interest, like the chantix debacle. None of their motivations in this seem sound anymore. They are wasting our money, and their resources, and it needs to stop.
